Re: what customers see?

Very noble of you not to accept the "Tip". We just came back from our son's graduation in Chicago and I was on a Tip-Fest. I must of spent close to $100.00 in tips alone.

Hope you gave him your business card so he can have your name when he writes a letter. Letters (not emails) have a lot of power. They really get the point across.

Boy, I should have drove up from Chicago and had you fix my power mirror for $50.00. hehe!

Re: what customers see?

Hey cool man! Doing your bit to spread the GM good word. I personally think you look a bit shady... maybe that's because I know what you're all about! Muahaha!

Nah, that's great! Keep it up!

Re: what customers see?

Great work, especially catching something so simple. They'll remember you and the dealer for life.

Now, the bigger problem lies in the more frequent (sad, but true) service guy like the first who obviously was out in left field and diagnosed and engine component problem as a major internal issue...I've just seen too many of "those" mechanics to count.

Re: what customers see?

Great job, Pete!

This kind of quick diagnosis, above-and-beyond repair (could have easily said the shop wasn't open), and straightforward dealing is a breath of fresh air on an ordinary day.

But when you are out of town, on vacation, it's absolutely huge!

I was headed 'up north' pulling my boat a week ago Friday and had a major blowout on the back of the Suburban after about 3 minutes on the freeway. I got the spare on and took it to Valley Tire in Flint, Twnshp. They had a cheap used tire I could use for a spare, and had my spare tire mounted on my good wheel and their tire mounted on my spare in the time it took me to walk next door and eat a Haloburger. Their quick service has left a very favorable impression in my mind for the next time I need tires.

Re: what customers see?

Thanks for the replies everyone...it is good to get to help someone out.

My dealership may not be modern or or in a fancy locale, and our customers seem OK with that, so I hear....they don't like "pressure"...

for example, guy calls me up saying he's from the Sick Childrens Hospital, he asks me if I want to make a donation and I say sure, but then he tells me that the minimum donation is 20bucks.

and i'm like, minimum donation?

sad really.

Re: what customers see?

my service guys run into situations like this sometimes too. we are on the interstate. this time of year you see a lot of vacationers dropping in for various little problems from time to time. it's a good thing for them to know that there are dealers out there to help them even if they are out of town.
