VIN for vehicle in transit

My dealer called today saying that my 2008 2500HD Silverado is in transit and will arrive 8/10. He had no idea what the MSRP would be, didn't have the VIN, and didn't even know how to look it up. Is this possible?

Not really sure, but we are "downloaded" with a vehicle invoice when it is shipped or about 2 weeks away from having it on our lot. This is usually when I will call the customer and give them their vin and pricing.

Re: VIN for vehicle in transit

Your vehicle would have a VIN # as soon as it hit the assembly line, being it is due 08/10 he could track which rail car it is on, where that rail car is. or if it at the trucking ramp.

As for price, if GM hasn't annouced the 08 pricing yet, then you will have to wait for that.

Re: VIN for vehicle in transit

If he knows it's in transit he would know the VIN and pricing. 2008 pricing is up even on KBB.com.

^^^^ Yes if its on the wy he knows everything, last time I played that something was wrong and I did not want to tell the customer....LOL....but im sure your is fine

curious why order a vehicle and not kow what you are paying for it....kinda backwards way to do it, here we build them and do the financing before it is ordered, if rates change, you get the better rate, but seems weird you would order a truck and not know hte price.....

Some people just have too much money to worry about those minor details

Re: VIN for vehicle in transit

Your dealer should be able to pull an "in-transit" report with your VIN and Order Number along with a factory invoice off of BARS. He'll know what you are talking about. Besides, the moment the vehicle left the assembly line the invoice was generated. It landed in your dealer's DSC output the next morning.
