Tons of guys share the supplier discount with individuals so don't worry too much.

Just let him know he needs to notify you when he finally uses it.

Sharing and Buying a discount are two different things. It is meant to be shared, not sold.

First of all, thanks everyone for the responses...

Secondly, to coaster - any advice on how to proceed at this point? Should I call him and tell him I changed my mind, and then change my password? Or just let it slide? Should I report him to someone? I'm kind of at a loss on this one.

I would just tell him you changed your mind and drop the whole thing. Its not that he will get into trouble that you should worry about its you.

One of the Saturn Stores here in Michigan got audited and they found the Sales Manager was buying GM Discount #'s. The Sales manager got hit with cost of the discounts, the dealership got fined and lost their privelage to use discounts (which is not good in the Detroit area) and the employee was fired from GM.

Not trying to scare anyone, its best to just play by the rules.

Now, if you share the number without any compensation then its a different story. We have employees who buy from us that share their numbers with prospects they send to us. Especially execs who get like 6 a month and won't use all of them who give them to people they know to get out of a 'Yota.

Re: Sales manager bought my Supplier Discount?

You sold your soul and got your $50 bucks so whats the whining all about?
Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!

Changing your password won't do anything since hes already got the auth. number
which is now good for use for the next 6 months.......................

EDIT: heres a note from the GM EMPLOYEE site:
NOTE: If you did not request this authorization number, please void it online. Go to "Your Authorization History" located under "GM Supplier Discount" and choose "Click to Void" after the authorization number

Re: Sales manager bought my Supplier Discount?

If I'm not mistaken, you could lose future priveleges under the Supplier Program if you "sell" anything to anyone.

I'm pretty sure it's in the rules.

Don't risk it. Especially if he pressured you into it.

I did find this:

Can I share the GM Supplier Discount with friends and family?
Yes. Each time you purchase or lease a new GM vehicle under the GM Supplier Discount program, you can share your supplier discount with one friend or family member. You can share pricing for up to one year from the date of your vehicle purchase. Once you obtain an authorization number, your friend or family member will have six months to use it.

That's from the Supplier Website. If you give it ot's OK but I wouldn't take anything for it. Maybe a free first service??
