Sales Folks: Question for you..

Through my business, If I buy a new truck, I can write it off in the year of purchase. Here is the question, I have a 2006 HHR, 45K miles on it.. Owe about $13,000.00, right where it would sell at dealership retail per Edmunds price estimate. it’s a top notch little car, dealer maintained, still pretty much new, no dings or dents, a good wash/detail and you can put it on sale on the lot.. The interior has zero scratches or dents… everything is showroom for this little truck..

I pay around $395.00 a month, give or take some cents.
Here is my question, does any sales person think they can get me into a Traverse or V6/AWD Equinox for some (has to have v6 and AWD) for something like $400.00 to $450.00.
Onstar turn by turn would be great too but not necessary, plus lots of bags (air ones)
It has to have a V6 and AWD, because I will not drive a 2WD SUV and I do not want an Anemic 4 banger… Its a great motor on the HHR, but not on an SUV.
This would give me close to $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 net write off. FYI, my credit is excellent.

My daughter would not step on the back of the seat in a bigger car while I am driving, little feet...

Re: Sales Folks: Question for you..

If you're HHR was an '09 with zero miles, there would be more payment difference than 50 bucks a month.....

You're talking about a large down payment to get to the monthlies you're talking about....

Re: Sales Folks: Question for you..

you are correct your HHR would prolly sell for around 13, but your talking wholesale on trade so you NOT gonna get 13 for it...as for Equinox, Im guessing you want a 2010, here they run in 4banger 29 grand and NO rebates, on a 2009, maybe they have good rebates on them now,

as for Travers again you pushing 39-45 for AWD so I guess to answer your question like critical said not without a good downstroke or something like a 60/84 Ammortization.....that may work..

Thank you for the feed back. So, If I was to replace the HHR, what would the payments approximately be? $500?

Re: Sales Folks: Question for you..

Out of curiosity, is this for you or another member of your family and are you the primary driver of the HHR?

The 4 banger in the new 'nox is not exactly anemic, not anymore than your HHR anyway and AWD is not going to really make a difference unless you plan on towing or doing some kind of ice Olympics.

Save yourself some money and really look at your purchase. I always found the FWD VUE and FWD Outlook to track exactly the same in terrible weather as their AWD counterparts.

I follow this guidline, double the first 2 number in the price and that will put you in the ballpark for payment, thru a bank over 5 years based on about 7.5% interest....not a science but your close.....this will depend on sales tax as well....I say bank cause with rebates MOST are doing bank financing

so here at 39 grand your looking 7-8 bills over 60 months thru a bank.....GMAC rates are better but cash down is mandatory thru them now on most anything.

an Equinox figure 5-600 depending on how you arrange it, remember bi weekly will save a bit, longer term, whatever your comfy with.....

your gonna have some deficit on the HHR as well to cover......if your payout is 13 figure 8-10 on trade, it looks like nice unit so Im sure you will get a good value for it, but wiht massive rebates on new trades are taking a **** kicking.....if Edmunds says you can get 13 mail the HHR to him and get him to buy it..... 13 would be retail

Seems like there is really no upside for me, other than, perhaps wait until the HHR is paid off and get the Traverse then, I need to do the calculations correctly and see if there is an upside to getting that addational write off, by taking on higher payments.

I think the only way this would work was if GM could offer good leases with a buy out option for the customer, which allows for me to capitalize the asset and thus get a write off.

Leases would put me in a good place from a monthly payment stand point. I do not mind coughing up a down payment for the lease...

Re: Sales Folks: Question for you..

GM dont lease anymre, at least not for now....the Easiest would be to go see what you can get for a diffference, put money down to cover hte deficit on the car, so your starting from scratch on the Traverse, it may work on the right one, there are rebtes on those to, 6 grand here. it prolly wont be a 5 year deal so you may not like that, but over 6 maybe 7 years your payment would be there.

I will look at the current offers on the Traverse in the market here. I might just be able to get some write off on one at the end of the year. For me, the write off is more important than how long I keep the Vehicle.
I am thinking, the scheme might work with a used SRX probably..

Re: Sales Folks: Question for you..

I have noticed zero advertisement on the local Saturday and Sunday Papers from GM dealerships, despite Chrysler having deals going; I might be also look at a Jeep commander. It’s a nice 3 row truck, me thinks.. It also has piles of cash on hood..
