Questions about current incentives.

Can someone please explain to me how GM's various incentive programs work.

If I opted for $2500.00 cash back and $1000.00 GM loyalty, the total is subtracted from the MSRP or negotiated price. Is the dealer then reimbursed in full from GM? In other words GM is taking the hit, not the dealer?

Also when using GM card earnings is the dealer reimbursed for the full amount?

Rebates have NOTHING to do with the dealer's pocket, and are fully paid for by GM.

They're also always subtracted from whatever your best negotiated price is, and the same goes for GM card earnings which count exactly like any other GM cash rebate.

All are taken off your best price at the time of signing...and then all rebate amounts are paid for by GM in full.

Re: Questions about current incentives.

Depends on the state, but in most states your rebate is subtracted AFTER TAX on the price point you negotiated. It's not subtracted right off MSRP, even though virtually all dealers show it to you that way as they are working up the numbers. Now for GM Card earnings I don't know.

gm card earnings are treated just like another rebate. it is subtracted after the tax is fugured.
