Our time is worth money. That's why quotes over the phone to retail shoppers is unacceptable. Now, I would give you a quote only if I had an indication that you were going to act on that quote. And that doesn't mean shopping my price, either. I may have just what you requested, but another dealer has it without the six-disc CD player. They beat me by $200. So when I do follow-up and ask why you never came in, you say that my price was beaten. Then I'll ask how (and pry) to get you to say that you bought a truck that you didn't ask for. So not only did you use me for a price to shop, but you lied to me and wasted my time. So, why do you feel that you deserve a price over the phone?

Where'd you get that statistic?

It is nice to be able to work a deal based on a hand shake and your word.
How do you know that the vehicle he bought isn't worth the list price? Would it have been an unfair deal if he didn't offer it for $3,000 off? If so, why? And a handshake and honesty isn't enough to close a deal. If it were, my dealership should be suing some of my customers. That's why we'd try to rush you into the F&I department: before you get scared of us again. That fear is based on prejudice (and I can present evidence). My fear is based on experience.

I don't shop around, once I start dealing with someone I either tell them I am not going to buy it, or I buy it. I never leave a sales person hanging.

Some of us have a little bit of loyalty left and treat our sales people as human, all we ask for is to be treated the same.

BTW, Some of you sales people are very cold, and then you wonder why customers try to screw you.

Your actions toward the customer determin theirs back at you, I don't deal with salesman who won't be honest and forthright with me.
