Angry need help GM part

My father recently took in his 2008 Impala LTZ for it's first oil change. He had lost one of the caps for the tire and asked for a new one and was charged $12.50 for it. I need to know if they replaced the entire valve or if the little plastic cap actually costs $12.50 in GM's world. Part numbers listed on the invoice are: FP number 88925275 Description: PF59 018360. He paid the bill and left but I'm pretty steamed right now, If they did charge that much for a black plastic cap you can bet there will be fire works.

Anyone know how I can look up the parts quickly or know off hand what that part actually is? thanks very much.

As for the topic @ hand...that number must bea GM Canada exclusive part# as it isn't on my GM parts master...

The metal valve caps aren't cheap, IMO about $3 or $4...

Re: need help GM part

I'd be rather upset too. Ok, it seems to be a genuine GM replacement part, made to last and perform like the original, BS. I don't work at a dealership or anything, but valve stem caps seem like an item that a dealer would have a full bin of them and would probably give you a couple extra if you ask, and NOT charge for it. Come on, if they really want to charge, 50 cents wouldn't be bad. On top of that, he flippin bought the car from them and is putting his faith and trust into their service department.

But hey, The Feeling Is Genuine

Re: need help GM part

I tried looking up the 1st part number on gmpartsdirect.com but isn't showing up. Their online catalog doesn't seem to have everything.

The PF59 number sounds like an AC Delco oil filter...I'm used to picking up PF47s and now PF52s.

There must be an echo in here....

Anyways...

The PF59 is NLA in the US, replaced by the PF61...genuine feeling that is...

how about just calling the parts person that sold the part to him and ask them your questions?

A metal valve stem cap in the US is #25731359, MSRP is $4.78 per...

That 8892# is not a valid USA GMSPO#

Re: need help GM part

First off all the Dealership did a follow up customer satisfaction survey and solved the issue very fast. Turns out that they double charged for the oil filter and the environmental disposal fees. A refund check is in the mail.

Second, the reason I asked here is because I knew there are some people affiliated with dealers and parts departments and it would be a lot easier to check this periodically than wait on hold on the phone for 30 minutes to be told nothing. I don't have much luck calling my local dealerships when looking for parts. They frequently put me on hold, drop the call or ignore it altogether. Also last night I didn't have the time to spend on the phone or down at the dealer in question raising the matter personally; or I would have done that instead.

Thanks to everyone for the fast replies.

Re: need help GM part

yeah I saw that PF59 and was like... oil filter?
but the new valve caps on the Impalas with TPMS are not the typical ones were used to seeing on past valve stems.
the new ones are longer. and rounded towards the top.
old style ones dont fit.
needless to say- they shouldnt cost $12 each.

Re: need help GM part

the 08's and late design 07's used a rubber 2 piece TPM and valve stem assembly.
the earlier systems used an aluminum assembly, 1 piece. you have to make sure you get the correct valve stem cap, or else the system will not work properly. as stupid as it sounds, its true. it wouldnt surprise me that the new style rubber valve stem caps are pricey. i know the aluminum caps cost around 4-5 dollars
