That is a great ending to the story! What a nice gesture...

Good for him.

That's awesome! It's great to hear that's how the story ended.

The fairy tale is not over. At least for now.

Newsday reports that Hustedt Chevrolet is now suing the customer, his mother and Newsday for printing a story that is "false and defamatory". The suit is for approx. $10 million.

"Said newspaper article failed to state that the plaintiff's lowered the price because of a computation error."

Here we go again. Check www.newsday.com for the complete article.

GOOD! Now the "real" truth will come out! If Hustedt Chevy has been screwing people for ages, then they have plenty of money for lawyers. If Beaudoin's parents win, I hope Hustedt loses even MORE business! I'm sure Newsday has money than Hustedt to fight this. I just feel sorry for the parents having to go through this crap if they are telling the truth.

Time will tell.

Most Long Island dealers know people that worked for Eagle. Let's just say this "gift" was more of a publicity stunt than normal good will. Former employees have plenty to say about that dealer's practices as well.

Let's see what the courts have to say about this one.

This may be so, BUT at least Eagle turned an unconscionable act into something POSITIVE! Eagle is NOT the center of this despicable act- HUSTEDT is! If and when Eagle does something like this, then we can bring them into this "fray"!

Hustedt has been long known as a bait and switch dealer with crummy sales practices. They survive on people with credit ratings on the poor side. I went there years ago to test drive a pickup and the salesman at the time flat out told me no as it was to late in the day---it was 7:30 and the showroom closed at 9. Well, its obvious that the dealer didnt earn my business and I found a better deal over at Bay Shore Chevy.

I am glad Hustedt was sold-out. I am sure there are many more rip-off stories that will never be told from these guys.

Kudos to Eagle--even if it was part publicity they still made the gesture. At least it wasnt a Honda dealership--imagine that people would associate Hustedt and Chevy as bad and Honda as oh so good!

Any new news about the lawsuit with HUSTEDT and the family of the autistic "kid" and Newsday? This will take YEARS to resolve with the way the courts in this country work- delay, after delay, after delay!
