Cool I need GMS Discount Help!

Ok I'll try to explain my scenario as best as possible. My brother called me today explaining he somehow qualifies for the GMS discount. He said he was instructed to go on a website possibly GMSdeals.com or Pepking.com? to 'tag' a vehicle. I'm not sure what the process for using his discount or what sites he needs to go through but he's for certain he wants an Acadia or Outlook and that through this process it would be financed through GM. The Outlook has me a lil' concerned because in the past Saturn has been excluded from most any corporate discounts offered by GM. It's still not clear what he meant by going online and 'tagging' a vehicle either but I hope someone out there can help. By the way this would be his first domestic car in nearly 8yrs. and dare I say he's seriously considering a Saturn. I guess hell has finally frozen over.

Re: I need GMS Discount Help!

All discounts apply to Saturn (except GM card) Unless your brother is a GM employee or directly related to one (child, grandchild, step child, child in law, sibling or sibling in law, parent, grandparent step parent or parent in-law) he is not eligible. the person that told him this may have mistaken it for GSU or the supplier discount. Customers often have these confused.

I think my brother works for a supplier and maybe getting some conflicting info. from others. I was kinda certain he didn't qualify for the GMS discount since we don't have any family who works for GM. However is there anything he needs to know about the supplier discount that he has not been informed of?

Not really.. Just to give you an idea of his discount here is an example of an Outlook.

Outlook XR FWD

Total MSRP: $34,485.00

If you really wanted the car you'd pony up the extra $1400 and just get the damn thing.

If he works for a company that is associated with GM as a supplier he would get the company code and go to www.gmsupplierdiscount.com

Thta usually is not transferable unless they have a Family and Friends promo. However, a GM dealer is not required to give you the Supplier (GSU) price as it is a voluntary process. Basically, the supplier price is about an invoice deal but you may not qualify for other incentives if you use it. Compare your best deal with the GSU price and you may be better off NOT using it.

Re: I need GMS Discount Help!

Usually, "tagging" a vehicle is through an employee website for purchasing a PEP vehicle (those driven by eligible GM executives). The vehicle is driven for about 3 months or 3,000 miles then offered up to employees & retirees at a price lower than GMS.

You "tag" the vehicle and somebody contacts you when the vehicle is out of service and available for purchase and you let them know what dealer you are using to consummate the transaction. I believe all GM vehicles that are PEP (including Saturn) are eligible

Oh ok this is good to know because I had no idea of what the hell he was talking about earlier with all this pepping and tagging crap. I think in the past I referred to them as program vehicles which were virtual the same thing. But I'm assuming even with it being a PEP vehicle he would still qualify for a discount. My question next is, will the discount be deducted from the invoice price or is it based upon the adjusted depreciated value of the car. Either way I'm thinking it really wont make a difference esoecially if the PEP car is relatively new w/ few miles on the clock. But my brother is pretty stingy and he will low ball any deal he can get even if it means stonewalling until he finds exactly what he wants at the price he's willing to pay.

Yes, there is special PEP pricing based on miles or length of time in service. For example: 3,000 mi or 3 months is one price; 5,000 mi or 5 months is another lower price, then there is another discount added if it's after the current model year (buying an '07 PEP after '08 introductions). The price (like GMS) is non-negotiable. Sometimes you can work with the dealer you pick to get a free vehicle detailing or a free oil change etc. Generally the cars are in real good shape as drivers are required to take good care of the vehicle (their kids under age 25 are not allowed to drive them) and the PEP price is the cheapest price you'll pay for a "like new" vehicle.

Sometimes it is hard to find exactly what you want. Remember GM executives are driving these vehicles and they like all the amenities, so they are usually fully loaded models.

Also, it's hard to "stonewall". Once you have "tagged" a certain model, and it's out of service, you get a call and have 24 hrs to decide to take it or not.

Example: A person is looking for a G6. The system shows 15 in service. You reply to a couple of general questions: coupe, sedan, HT convertible; 3 color choices in order of preference. let's say 3 weeks later you get the call, you specified black coupe. The caller will say we have a black coupe with a 6 cyl automatic, etc, etc, and no sun roof. You were hoping for a sun roof, you have 24 hrs to say yes or no. If no, you go back into the system and hope you get another hit.

Re: I need GMS Discount Help!

^^^Well that helps alot thanks. I just talked to my brother again today and he just mentioned that he was planning on leasing an Outlook or Acadia not buying but he was told he couldn't lease an 07' car and would have to wait until 08' if he wanted to lease either crossover through the PEP program. He is wanting a vehicle of this size soon as there are four kids in his family and he and his fiance currently have a Mitsubishi Galant and a Monte Carlo between them. Sigh...I hope he'll be able to find something soon and hopefully it'll be an Acadia or Outlook because he absolutely fell inlove with them when he seen them a few months ago. But thanks for all the info.

The official website for GM employee/supplier/PEP discounts is www.gmfamilyfirst.com. There you can register, view/tag available PEP cars and request your discount authorization codes.

Re: I need GMS Discount Help!

I do not think supplier employees can "tag" pep cars. this program is GM direct employees only.
