Which GM- credit card to get?

Id like to get one of the credit cards that builds points/cash towards purchase of a new GM car.
Which card do you all recommend?

I have a VISA with Sony rewards. I just ordered my 'free' Digital camera- after getting enough points.
Id like to now get a card so I can build points toward a car....

any recommendations?

Extended Family Card. That way you can use it at Saturn or with a GM discount.

The Extended Family Card is just for those who are or are related to GM employees.

The Flexible Earnings Card allows for 1% Earnings toward Saab and Saturn. Which, frankly, blows Beluga. You spend $10,000/year on your card, and you get $100.00 off a car that costs $30,000? WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I have some GM card that gives 5% back. It's been fairly awesome.

I thought so too, but I had a customer who wanted to use her card on a Saturn. I explained to her that we only accept extended family. Her being ever vigilant on getting a Saturn for the lowest price possible, transferred her earnings to an extended card with out having a single family member in GM.

Where do you live?

If in Canada, your only option is with the TD Bank - the GM Visa card.

3% of purchases go to GM points/dollars, and (here's where it's better than the US) you can use the points at Saturn. I know, because I just did.

Re: Which GM- credit card to get?

hmmm I was just running the numbers at 3%....
not sure if its even worth it- I dont think I would even charge $1000 a yr. that would be $30 towards a new car....
to get $1500 towards a new car- Id have to charge $50,000...
any of you guys pool up those kind of significant numbers?

I've redeemed about $1,000 or so (a little more). As I said, though, I got the card years ago so I get 5%.

Re: Which GM- credit card to get?

Doesn't the flex card provide triple earnings? Like you get your GM points, and if you use it on a GM vehicle, they triple it?

Yup Saab too, I think. That's the one I've got. My mom used my dad's points on her Saturn 2 years ago.

Re: Which GM- credit card to get?

I'd get the traditional GM Card. I got mine back in the 90s before they set limits on how much you can redeem. My card gets me 5% towards a new vehicle for every purchase. It's limited to a max purchase benefit of 5% of $500, though. I charge everything: gas, groceries, bills, etc. every month and pay it in one bill to avoid interest. My last truck I bought in 2004. My GM earnings were up to $2000, PLUS GM gave an extra $1000 in bonus earnings. They sometimes do that.

The only downside is that earnings are only good for five years, and you are capped at $500 in earnings per year.

However, I forget what the new card's rules are, but 5% is the best I've come across.

Actually, on the old program from the 90s...you are maxed out at $500 a year for seven years.
