    GM BuyPower

Does anyone know how to currently access gmbuypower.com to search vehicle inventory? I used to use this resource often while shopping for my GTO's but awhile ago they limited access to the public. Searching through the Pontiac.com inventory search is unfriendly and painful. I'm concidering a new G8 should incentives improve.

    Re: GM BuyPower

Me too, and when they removed the regular GMBuypower.com, I wasn't happy.

BUT the exact same site, just with either Supplier or Employee pricing also given remains intact and can be accessed here...I use them ALL the time, especially since the locater tools on the main sites are now completely inoperable and useless.

    Supplier:
    http://www.gmbuypower.com/index.jsp?...rType=GMSUPPLR

    Employee:
    http://www.gmbuypower.com/index.jsp?...&userType=GMFF

Exact same site you should be used to, just without a "Build" option anymore (that was a recent removal) and once searching, you can modify the URL to expand the search range, number of dealers shown, etc.

    You're welcome

Thanks Caddy! For some reason it won't allow me to search for 09 G8's only 08's. Also it keeps defaulting to dealership info, not actual dealer inventory. My zip is 18457

The mid-model year price increase has really made the G8 too pricey for my budget unless I receive a GM card bonus round up. A loaded 09 GT is now MSRP $34,990, much higher then the last GTO's were. Yikes!

Oh yes it will, and it works perfectly. Select 2008 Pontiac G8 and your zip, then on the 2nd page where you choose from base or GT go into the URL address and where it says "year=2008" change the 2008 to 2009 & hit Enter (some brands in the list are yet to be updated with full 2009 models on the first page, though they exist in there on every other level). Wa-la, all resets with 2009 specs and searching. The same thing holds true on pages past that, where you can search and hopefully select a dealer with no inventory, click Search Nearby Dealers, and then there modify the year, max number of cars, and mileage radius...and get that list.

Using Rowland, PA as my base, here you go the 50 closest of each to your zip:

    2009 Base:
    http://www.gmbuypower.com/vehicleloc...tOfferTerms=36

    2009 GT:
    http://www.gmbuypower.com/vehicleloc...tOfferTerms=36

So it works, you just have to know the tricks. Now, just hopefully something in that list strikes your fancy...or if not, a dealer swap or fun trip can be in the making to a bit further out.

    Re: GM BuyPower

I really appreciate those links Caddy. Without question, Buypower's ACTUAL inventory listings give you the best chance to find the exact equipped vehicle you want and where to find it. With the various MSRP prices on G8's dependent upon when it was built this list is even more invaluable. I'm likely waiting to see what January's incentives bring as the current Red Tag sale is not very impressive on G8's.

Does anyone know why GM limited public access to buypower?

No, and it is extremely frustrating that they did what they did.

I don't know, but it really stinks...the one day I went to use it and wa-la, got redirected to the huge mess of a general GM site. Apparently, or at least I assumed, the intention was to get more people using brand specific sites for such stuff, but they don't work as well regarding inventory and--after a recent change themselves--are really horrible at it, as far as clarity or even showing the correct stuff.

So GMBuyPower exists, but you have to use the version with either Supplier or Employee pricing also shown. This isn't a problem except for if you want to use it to submit a quote request, wherein the dealer is told it came from Supplier or Employee site and--as I've had happen--give pricing based on that.

GMBuyPower is still one of the best sites for such stuff, but I wish the original "everyone" version would be back in place and the individual brand sites reverted back to how, at least, they used to be in regards to inventory.

Did you ever get a G8, by the way?

I've been doing my due diligence since early Jan when I received the GM card Top-off. Dealers have been VERY slow to respond to email, some not at all. I've located a few G8 GT's optioned as I want so I'll start visiting dealers that have responded this week. I will wait to purchase my best negotiated deal until the end of the month just in case GM adds any last minute incentives or a desperate dealer makes a better offer.
