Ford and Chevy under one roof?

Can a Ford dealership bring in a chevy dealership and sell and service both makes in the same building. Just wondering because it happened in my town this week. Seems odd if you ask me.

Thanks, Jeff

Re: Ford and Chevy under one roof?

well anythings possible.
where i live theres a Nissan, Ford, and Subaru dealership in the same building. What basically happens is that people looking at a Ford may end up driving out in a Chevy and vice versa

At the end of the day the dealer is always making money.

It seems the answer is "yes".

I've seen Coke and Pepsi in a same machine....but I sort of think both companies would take offense to that.

Re: Ford and Chevy under one roof?

I was going to say no, but Suzuki shares the same building here with Chrysler and Jeep, and the same sales staff. Otherwise all other brands are separated by glass or different buildings. I think GM is very particular about that, too.

I think a lot of brands will just require their own shownroom. Other than that I think they are just happy to have people that can keep the doors open.

Re: Ford and Chevy under one roof?

The owner of my Pontiac/Buick/GMC/Cadallic dealer bought a Ford/Lincolin store a few years ago and when he started building a new facility to bring both stores together he had to have a seperate Showroom and Service department for the Ford and GM stores but was able to build a single Bodyshop/Cleanup department for both stores to share.
He had a huge office built for himself in the GM building and Ford still insisted that he had to have a "dealer principal's" office in his Ford building as well so he has a small token office that sits empty except for when Ford executives come to town.
