As a point of reference, on a 2008 Cadillac CTS the base sticker price is 32,245 and the employee price is 29,332 (before destination). On the options, the employee price is exactly 80% of the sticker price. (i.e the U2S Bose 5.1 stickers for $1000 and has an employee price of $800)

if you're buying off the lot it is pretty simple, in most cases all you would have to do is tell your salesrep that you qualify for gms pricing and in most cases they will simply pull the invoice and show it to you, it is posted right on the invoice that the dealer gets from gm. i think you would actually have to be a gm employee to be able to tag a unit, a pep unit i think is what they call it, but the extra discount depends on the mileage that is put on the vehicle. between 1-3000 miles take an extra 4.5% off, 3001-6000 miles 7.5%, 6001 and above 11%, it is alot harder to find the tagged units compared to the old days now. those saving are an extra on top of the gm employee pricing. good luck!

guess the other give away you may not work for a GM store is the fact you 'think' the mark up is 18%, I wish I had that kind of markup in GM cars, or trucks for that matter....

Re: Employee discount

Go to the dealer, show them your GMS authorization number and get the price.

Easy as pie.
