Canadian dealers - Any incentives on the horizon?

I am in the market for a new car, but after heavily shopping the dealerships I am frustrated by the lack of incentives available. Is there anything on the horizon? It seems so unfair that Canadians pay inflated prices, and then to boot, don't get half of the incentives that US buyers do.

I am a walking dollar sign in the dealerships, and I can sense the salepersons frustrations when they can't offer me a red cent. I am ready to buy, but not at any price. I hope the GM powers that be are reading this!

Cars that interest me
Impala
Aura
Saab 9-3
Also interested in
Acadia
Outlook

There is virtually NO incentives on these cars. The best I could find was 0% 60 mo on the Impala (useless since I am buying the car outright), and 0.9% 60 months on the Aura (again, useless). Saab had an incentive (1000$) only if I was driving an IMPORT car!! (this kinda made me mad).

GM this is not good enough. I am a huge fan, but I refuse to be taken to the bank just because I am Canadian.

Re: Canadian dealers - Any incentives on the horizon?

saturn an saab no I have 0% on the impala for 60 mths...Acadia good luck, our sister stor is selling them full sticker and people are lining up for them.....and Saturn wont have any good in centive I wont think either

basically GM offers the best warranty in the bus now, has the quality to compete with the so called 'superior imports' so why should they give huge incentives to sell them.....couple more years you wont see nothing for incentives

if you go to honda and toyota you pay sticker and insane interest rates, so 2 and 3 percent is not bad.

what are you driving I have some loyality programs going on for ANY new GM vehicle, cept for a couple

Re: Canadian dealers - Any incentives on the horizon?

Your timing is off. Wait a month or two if you are buying outright. The arrival of the '08s will mean discounts on the '07's (if you don't mind buying an '07 that is). Unless its a car that needs to be moved, you won't see much off the MSRP until the next MY arrives. From what I have heard slow sales and high inventories have been the norm for the last few months. I would expect GM Canada to add incentives (cash) to models that have been kicking around the lots for a while. I hope Outlook is one of them but fat chance......

June 2007 GM Canada car sales were down 16%. If July doesn't improve, you can expect some deals coming in August to clear out the 2007's.

Both Toyota and Honda have incentives.
Money back and 3.9% or lower.

Re: Canadian dealers - Any incentives on the horizon?

As a Toyota dealer, we have no "money back" incentives, or dealer hold backs. The prices are the prices. We do have lowered rates, but nothing "stackable" like GM has.

If you are paying cash for a vehicle when they are offering 0% interest, then you are for lack of a better word: an idiot. 0% financing is an excellent incentive, especially for the cash paying customer.

If you want a better "deal", you have to wait until the dealer has the replacement for the vehicle you want (ie: 2008 models and 07s at the same time). That's when the dealer might start overly discounting the previous model year.

But then at that point, do you want a previous model year car?

Right now, we have the 07 and 08 Corolla in stock. They have the same MSRP. Due to financing rates, the 08 works out to about $20 more per month. But at the end of a 5 year finance contract, that 08 will certainly be wroth more in the marketplace than an 07. You recoup the upfront money if you sell it.

If you don't care what you drive, and model year doesn't matter, just buy a used car.

I have to give GM credit. They are sticking to their guns (so far) and not going incentive crazy even with the sales slump. At some point though, you'd think they'd sweeten the deal. I mean they still have lots of pensions and healthcare to pay for regardless of how many cars they sell.

.
You missed the point. I am looking for an incentive other than 0%. I am willing to pony up the cash, there should be 0% or X amount of rebate. I like to know what my monthly fixed expenses are, and I really don't want to add a car payment to it.

I drive a 97 Venture and a 97 Grand Am. Virtually worthless in terms of trade in. Don't get me wrong, I like GM, but I HATE how Canadians are ripped off. Why is there such a price difference, and why are US dealers offering heavy rebates etc on vehicles etc. I really feel like I am being taken.

Thanks for the advice. I had hoped for some rebates but I guess I will have to be patient and wait it out.

The venture and Grand am both have loyality programs here $1000 for each, and you can keep them, only thing is you can only use one per purchase so basically you get a Grand off, and keep your car, plus whatever other incnetive, I have on the vehicle you are buying, there is 1550 off on malibu LS and a grnd on Malibu maxx and LT, LTZ models.....get another van the short uplander has massive rebate........**** for finaance rate...but 5100 off MSRP

And I like hte fact GM is sticking to their guns and not offering rebates, you dont get discounts form Honda or Toyota so why should GM, their cars are already less expensive to buy, have more options and have better warranties now...

the price difference tho ya it is riciculous a Z06 here in my showroom is $105,000 and the smae in the US is around $65000....ridiculous

Welcome to retail in Canada, enough customers complained that if there was $$$$ off for not taking 0% financing, then that wasn't really 0% financing.

Come over to the Blue Oval, we have Family pricing right now. basicaly dealer's true cost.
