Anyone get a GM Card Bonus lately?

In the past, at least about 3 times, we've gotten a "gift" of bonus earnings on our GM Card, usually either $1000 or $2000 extra...yet, it's always seemed to happen not long after we already bought a vehicle.

That said, we're shopping again, at least to start, and I was wondering if anyone around here had received notice of this in the past couple of months, or if they just haven't done it in a while. Anyone get a bonus recently, or months back?

I can't remember when the last time we saw one was...I'm thinking either late last year or early this year.

Ah, good to know. HOPEFULLY, we'll get another one then, as my mother is now waiting to see if she gets any "extras" in the next couple of months before ordering.

Re: Anyone get a GM Card Bonus lately?

I wish I could be, but I was declined a GM Card. The reason: I have too much money... I thought that was a bad reason so I'm gonna phone in. Anyone know if the GM Card in Canada gives bonuses?

I usually will only get them when my earnings are below 2000. Now that I am at 2500, topping me off at 2000 doesn't help.

Yeah, we've never really gone past $500 or so, so when they did the bump-ups, it was always a very nice thing. Problem was, it was always after a purchase, about 3 times. Just hoping for to see another one soon, in a couple of months.

Is the bump based on how much you have in earnings or just a certain amount regardless? If the amount is fixed, I could get a card, spend $1 with it and wait for the $2k bump; is that right?

I doubt it. Both times I remember getting the bump to 2k, I was already in the 1500+ range.

Yeah, it depends on a lot of factors--just like some other mailed bonuses GM gives from time to time. They draw from various things like, how long you've owned a GM vehicle or which one in particular, your GM card use & earnings, interest you've shown (through brochures and other requests) in particular new GM vehicles, etc.

There's no one thing to guarantee you get a bonus--of whatever sort--when they decide to give one out, and sometimes people will be in the same circumstances, but one will get it and another won't.

Actually, the GM card bonuses seem to be more blanketed, and most GM card holders seem to get them at the same time--or at least a large group does--but I can't remember the last time I saw one.

We're REALLY waiting for another right now, because it'll be one of the factors in deciding to buy/order a new Lambda. Every time in the past it was either $2000, $1000, or, I think, maybe even $500...sometimes giving a breakdown on the various models it could be used on, and in what capacity. Other times it was just a flat $1-2000 bonus, that didn't have particular restrictions.

I'd tell your mother to hold off ordering for a while. With the UAW on strike, the quality of a GM car could suffer once they get back to work, if they are angry about the contract. Don't pay the price for some union type being upset about their job - you might get a lemon. I'd wait for the 2009 models.

Common viewpoint right now, but not one I'm concerned over.

It won't be for months anway, so no biggie. And though the *chance* is there, I'm only a little concerned about vehicles stopped mid-stream, etc. Overall, just not a big deal to me at the moment.

Re: Anyone get a GM Card Bonus lately?

I tried like crazy to get a bonus cash coupon for my GM CC. At any rate, I ordered an 08 Acadia SLT-2...I get it tomorrow. They just used my GM Credit Card money of $3455...almost maxed it out at $3500.

If I didn't have the GM Credit Card, I would have bought a Lexus or Infiniti. Now I have to build it back up again over the next seven years.

I wish I had the same problem.

The last time I saw a bonus in Canada was in early 2003 ($1000). I remember this because I bought new in 2002. I have the same luck with incentives as the OP.

Re: Anyone get a GM Card Bonus lately?

is there more to this card than what the website says? because when i looked at it i saw that its not 0% interest, only on balance transfers, and you only get 3% back. also most cars are capped at 1000 dollars, some are at 2000. is there more to this card than the site suggests? i got a different one instead because this one didnt seem good. (my new one has 0% for 6 months, 0% on balance transfers, 3% back on all gas, supermarket, and drug store purchases, 1% back on all other purchases, and i can earn a penny for every mile i drive each year).
