Aveo?? No rebate, less standard safety features, smaller car, and 5.9 % to 60 months.
LOL where are you cause right now I have Aveo for 12,990 and 3.9 for 60 mths.....for auto and Air, Cd and couple options...it is like 14,990 to 15,990 and 3.9 for 60 anda 1000 rebate....

it is all in how the sales guy presents it to you....

under MSPR LOL basically you got 750 bucks off full sticker...from whrer Im reading this..

Your in Canada and I am in the US. Bigggg difference.

By the way, the Versa we purchased was $14,850 and it has 6 airbags standard, ABS with BRAKEFORCE, automatic trans, etc.

Option the Aveo the same way, and it cost basically the same, except that there is 0 cash on the hood and 5.9% for 60 months in the USA, compared to the Versa which had $850.00 on the hood, plus the money she will be saving with the extra 1% apr in her pocket.

Not to mention the 1.8 motor in the Versa makes 20 more horsepower while getting the same EPA ratings as the Aveo, and it has a timing chain instead of a timing belt, saving on maintenence costs.

Trust me, I didn't want her to buy foreign, but to stay within her meager budget while still having a NEW car this was really the best deal for her.

Long Island/NYC Nissan dealers are really notorious for this. For example one ad shows a new '07 Altima for only $15,000. You think, wow great deal. Then you read the fine print "with $5,000 down payment", so in reality you only save a few hundred bucks off the sticker.

One local Chevy dealer actually advertised finance and lease rates that included tax, etc. That was refreshing to see. I would still bet most people got hooked on the LOW, LOW PRICE ads and avoided the one honest advertisement out there.
I live in the New York metro area as well. The newspaper ads are only looking for people with credit scores of 500 or less. I swear. It's a complete waste to read the car ads nowadays.

Re: 07 GM "clearance" incentives suck!

true ^^ the dodge dealer here advertises only say $2500 dealer markup on their stickers, and people fall for it, so they say 'hey we will give you half off is that fair'...'well sure'.....

well the 2500 dealer markup is 2500 over the dealer MSRP so you just paid 1250 over sticker for you vehicle...perfect example

the other day customer comes in aand looks and a 63, 000 Durmax...(remember Im in Canada LOL) anyhow leather, DVD, blah blah.....give him $32000 for his 06 Dodge mega cab, nice truck, anyhow he goes balistic...says dodge is giving him $40,000, so Im like ok somehting wrong here, im like what you looking at, they are charging him the same amount $63,000 for a cloth crew cab, no DVD, barely a power seat, and he did not see the diff, som Im like fair enough I will charge you say $70,000 for this and give you 40 and we are done, he did not get it......the same truck in a chev sells for 56 grand and dodge was charging him 63, so ya a little markup there....

dont get caught up in trades and lame ass adds

Re: 07 GM "clearance" incentives suck!

Bad incentives for 2007s? Not so sure...maybe it depends on the model.

I bought a 2007 GMC Yukon XL Denali two months ago and got $3,000 cash back! I thought that was a great incentive to buy this GM vehicle!

That was a great deal for that truck. Now, we're almost out of the 2007's and there's only $1000 on the 2008's.

For those in sales only: Don't ya love when they (customers) tell us "We'll just wait for the incentive to get better!"?

How'd that work for all the people who passed on the 0% for 72???

Hahaha...

Re: 07 GM "clearance" incentives suck!

I know this sounds backward, but I hope GM gets to the point of successful product and reputation where we are psyched about 5.9% for 60 months financing again.

For our salesmen out there, my goal last time around was to get within $300 of what carsdirect.com or edmunds.com TMV price said I should get on a vehicle. I even tried the $12 CR thing. (won't do that again).

I hope we get to the point where the domestics stand up to the imports in the price and resale department.

On the other hand as a consumer I am happy to get great products at great pricing.

Are you an _____ fill it in yourself....GM just won truck of the Year with the silverado as well as a bunch of other awards, and Avalanche won in its catagory, the Saturn won several awards.....wnat some stats, the most problemmatic vehicle on the road today is the Volkswagon....Toyota had more recalls last year then cars sold....the new Tundra is a flop, to the point that they wont even consider a 3/4 or 1 Ton truck now....Buick has been top of the best vehicles on the road for several years.....I could go on but do the research yourself....

Its all in perseption and what people think, yes years ago Gm was not that great, but last time I saw a mid 90 Yota it was rusted out to the point of undrivable, so take your pick rusted junk imports of old, or shotty mechanics of GM.....remember there are prolly 1000 cavaliers on the road for every 10 civics.....

it comes with mass production....ask Toyota of today, since being in the big 3 they have admitted the quality has slide and they are setting production back and upping hte engineers to get it back up to snuff....

If GM only built 10 000 trucks a year instead of 23481745908126507...the quality would be better Im sure.....(slight exageration but you get the point.)

Oh and most of the problem today is that people listen to edmonds and these idiots who know nothing about cars or trucks and think cause a truck goes faster in the 1/4 it is a better truck...LOL god that toyota is such a POS.....

EDIT.....OH YA GM has a better f___in warranty as well.....If the others are so good up the anti and put some better coverage.....but then they would have to admit to small things like Timing chains being better then belts...LOL stupid imports changing belts every 60,000miles

Interesting...

At what point did you think I was bashing GM? I was commenting on the masses of people who will gladly pay Toyota or others 8% financing for 60 months and MSRP for a vehicle, but will not touch GM unless they get their cousins employee discount and 0% financing.

That is definately a problem.

No problem. I understand your frustration. I was lost to imports myself for fifteen years.

I am very happy with my Buick and do my best to not let any import smack talk I here go unchecked without a dose of reality oh behalf of the domestics. By the way nice car. I looked pretty hard at Malibu Maxx SS before choosing my LaCrosse CXS.

GMs recent vehicles have been excellent. I am looking forward to what is to come from GM, Ford, and the "new" Chrysler.

You where able to get her a $500 rebate? She could have done that herself. If she is cute and you where not there she probably would of got more then $350 off of the sticker.
Should have went for the Cobalt. Bigger car and rebate. Let me ask you a question, How much did she finance? Less the 15k? A point or two of interest is not that big of a deal at that point. Our store sold less cars this summer then last but our total gross profit was up. Stores are not buying as many new cars anymore so the inventory is not bloated like the past. Why should GM do a 0% sale if there are not many 2007's on the lots?

Your delivery needs work but I agree with your message!

The perception window is closing fast for the Imports.
I do not give anyone a free pass to bash GM just for the sake of bashing.
If people want to bash a GM product bring something to the table or go to an import site and talk to the sheep.

Re: 07 GM "clearance" incentives suck!

I was speaking to a dealer in Richardson, TX today. He was the internet sales manager and stated that there was a $5000 rebate on Tahoes and an additional $2000 in dealer incentives.

That with my GMS pricing made for a great amount of temptation. However I want a Camero.
