Re: Were are the 09 V8 Colorado / Canyons

Good question. It was pushed back to '09 and I think still available as such, but I wonder if any have been built...or even will. No one has cared about the Colorado/Canyon for so long, I keep wondering if they'll just say heck with it all together.

We'll see. But some have to be ordered somewhere...maybe.

Re: Were are the 09 V8 Colorado / Canyons

I bet GM has placed a hold on them until they get the leftovers sold. Is there any particular reason you'd want a 2009 over a new 08? You know as well as I that there aren't any changes worth mentioning!!

Re: Were are the 09 V8 Colorado / Canyons

I will be happy with just the V8 but if they throw in the 6 speed auto I will not complain. I am not a fan of the 5 cyl engine and think the V8 gas milage on the highway might be better than the 5 cyl. In the city it might suffer a 1 to 2 mile per gallon difference.

A friend of mine who works at GM Canada says they are making up the window stickers for the V8 Colorado/Canyons...I'm assuming that means they are on their way.

The 2009 GMC Canyons have arrived!

I noticed 6 or so at my local GMC dealer this past Sunday, while my chevy dealer had none. They looked good, clean, and you definitely noticed some changes. They were ALL 5 cylinder models FWIW.

How can you say that nobody has cared about the Colorado/Canyon? I mean, they only gave it class leading base horse power and torque( minus Dodge with V6 ) and three cab configurations( more then ford and nissan can say ) for a competitive price. Seems like somebody must have cared somewhere along the line.

Your question falls on deaf ears around here at GMI. Although I do also think among others here that GM just doesn't care to sell a great truck that it is, people here think they are crap. Let alone most herehave never driven one.

Exactly. Your last statement sums it up. I wish a lot of those who bash the colorado/canyon would either drive it or give exact details about the truck that GM needs to improve on. I have had my colorado for 7 months now and I have been entirely satisfied with it. With good power, good fuel economy, and a relatively sound interior, what more can you ask for out of a $17k truck?

I will correct the initial statement with a more on line one: GM did not care about the S-10/Sonoma( last generation ) I drove my granddad's S10 with the 4 cylinder after I lost the keys to the Colorado, and I was expecting it to be a little less refined but not to the extent that it was. It was so slow and it flattened out during normal driving conditions. The colorado 4 cylinder is light years ahead of the old S10 4 cylinder it replaced, even though the S10 is more or less only one generation back( depends on if you count the atlas engine update when the 2.8 became the 2.9 as a generation or not, I don't )

But I do wish to hear some concrete details that GM needs to improve on in order to make a good truck.

Re: Were are the 09 V8 Colorado / Canyons

I had an 03 Sonoma CrewCab 4x4(4.3/Auto) before I got my 07 Canyon CrewCab 4x4(3.7/Auto) and the things that I liked better in my Sonoma were:
- Stock Speakers
- Overhead Storage Bins
- Grab Handle on the dash

For everything else, the win goes to my Canyon.

Its not that they're crap trucks, the I5 with the automatic is underpowered. I drove an I5 with the manual back when they offered the combo and it was a totally different engine.

I didn't have a problem with the interior either but several people do for some reason.

My major gripe is with the styling, the concept that they had a year or two ago was a night and day improvement.

Re: Were are the 09 V8 Colorado / Canyons

i have the answer to this problem, Yes they are making the 09 colorado and canyon with the V8.

it has the LH8 engine, its a 5.3 liter v8 and has 300 hp. transmissions for it are the 4L60E.

rear end choices are 4.10 for the 2wd and a 3.42 for the 4wd. both models are available with the v8.

just found this out yesterday, i was looking on the GM training website and i did the web course on the new model features for the 09 colorados. yes i was bored. but it answers the questions.
