Tracking New Malibu Order?

I got received a TPW date of 2/18, which is next Monday. I'm calling today to get an order number because I heard once you have that you can "track" your order. What is the deal with this? How do you do it? Can anyone here help me?

your salesman can track it through dealerworld. If it's being built the week of the 18th. Expect the vehicle to arrive the first week of March.

Re: Tracking New Malibu Order?

and if youre going to finance----
keep your eye out for financing specials thru GMAC.
cause once the car is built- it will have its VIN # assigned. meaning you can take care of financing.

thats what we did last year on our 07 impala.
ordered the car- at that time the lowest interest rate we could find was about 6.X%.
But while we were waiting GM was promoting 0% for well qualified buyers.
When I found out it had been built- we went ahead and got in on the 0% offer.
Though I think the car didnt arrive for another 2-3 weeks.
But we were happy with 0% vs 6.x%
maybe youll run into the same luck.

Yes, it can be "sold/processed on paper" once they have the vin & invoice as our salesperson called it when we were recently buying a new Malibu--because, at the time, we were going to have to order and had GM bonus cash running out January 31st.

That all said...there will be nothing on the Malibu for quite some time, so it really doesn't matter, unless of a car bonus, etc. that's unspecific.

The dealer commited a fraudulent activity if you took physical delivery of the car after the date the promo rate was over. Just because you have the VIN number, that does not entitle you to the special rate/rebate. When GM audits that folder, they will see when the physical delivery took place. They know this as they check when the money was receipted, when the car actually arrived at the dealer, etc. The dealer that reports a delivery and does not physically deliver it puts themselves at great risk for doing so.

Advising anyone here (customer or dealer) to assume that, you are putting someone at risk and is very reckless. As a consumer, if a dealer is willing to do something fraudulent, what does that really say about the dealer in the first place. If the dealer is foolish enough to do it to keep one customer happy, we'll be reading about them soon enough in Automotive News.

If you want a rate or incentive that bad, take a car out of stock.

Re: Tracking New Malibu Order?

Are there any dealers here or sales people that would be willing to track my order? I feel like a freak calling my dealership all the time, but I don't have a lot of patience!

Re: Tracking New Malibu Order?

We can only track orders that are submitted through our own dealer.

You can call Chevy customer service but why not just call and ask the sales manager?

Re: Tracking New Malibu Order?

Are you a dealer is that why you can check it? I could have sworn there was some magical place where customers could find out the "event codes" of their orders. Regardless that would be great if you could check it and then provide me an update, especially throughout this week!

My order number is #MPZMRB

In a correct and proper world, there would be a website with live updates that shows your window sticker, current status, etc...but that just doesn't exist.

Maybe one day, but until then, only whatever a dealer can find in their system, and that's it.

Re: Tracking New Malibu Order?

I stumbled onto your conversation, and I'm wondering if that's true or not. I just ordered a 2008 Cadillac CTS, and I was told the same thing--that I could track my car using the order number. Incidentally, my father is a retired GM employee--not sure if that's got anything to do with it. Still, I can't figure out how, but I was told who to call. I'll post if there's a way to do it.

This is true. The Rebates apply on day of delivery. Between the handshake and delivery only bad things can happen.
