Shop prices for service

I have a friend who just got his oil pan gasket changed on an Impala because he had an oil leak and I was wondering if anyone knows what the book quote is for that service. He got charged 4 hours for it and that sound like it is way to much time to change a oil pan gasket. I think I could change it faster than that without a lift.

Sounds good, just curious more than anything. It seems like an easy fix but I have never crawled under his car so I was just curious if it's a much bigger pain than I realized.

sometimes they'll cut you some slack on labor or parts if you tell them you just can't afford to complete the repairs at this time.similar to buying cars, if not they're just going by the book.
