Sales Help??

I Have been to every dealership in Miami, FL trying to get out of my 2002 Tahoe with 10k in negative equity. I am trying to get into a 08 Tahoe Black/Black Leather. This might me unrealistic but i want payments under $500 per month. I have Gm Loyalty..Gm supplier discounts and $3,500 for a down payment. Every dealer that i go to just ignores these rebates and flat out tells me they wont be able to get the deal done...I have even gone to the dealers with a print out of the math done on a loan calculator!.. DO THEY WANT TO SELL THESE CARS OR NOT?!!..I am so fustrated so im looking for some advice on this bored on what i should do to get out of my upside down...Should i wait more towards to the end of the year for a deal on 2008or am i being illogical on what im looking for?.If your in Florida and want to make me a deal i will drive to your delearship from Miami. I just need some help and thought someone on here could chime in and give me some advice or sell me a car. My email adress is khrisx42@gmail.com

Thanks

Here are the details on my trade in:

2002 tahoe LS Black/ Tan Leather/3rd row seats.
84k Miles
Serviced every 3k miles

The dealers are giving me between $5k and $6k..i owe $15k..

Credit 700-715
Down Payment ($3,500)

Thanks

Chris

Re: Sales Help??

I can see why they don't want your Tahoe - they won't be able to sell it. (Not because there is anything wrong with it - simply because nobody is buying SUVs now).

That being said, I would think they could make a deal to get rid of another SUV. If you were trying to trade in to get a new Cobalt, I wouldn't blame them but an SUV-for-SUV trade should be OK.

Maybe you can sell your Tahoe privately? You can usually get a little more that way, although it can be a hassle.

By the way, welcome to GMI and good luck.

Re: Sales Help??

$500 x 72 months = $36,000.

If your trade is upside down $10k, then you will have to get a new Tahoe (with leather) at $26k. It sounds doable, but this is assuming 0% financing, are they still doing that?

The value of your Tahoe if you sell it private party is ~$11,750. You'd be better off paying down your loan, and selling to a private party person yourself, then buying a new Tahoe outright....even if you have no down payment. $15,000 - $3,500 = $11,500.

Like mentioned above, the dealership doesn't want your trade because it will likely sit on the lot for a long time, and it will take a long time to prep vs.a car they can sell quicker (they got to pay people to do that). There's little profit margin basically, so they have no incentive to hook you up.

Thanks Ronald I have tried selling it privatley. It was my first option to no avail. Thats why im trying to trade it in. I thought these dealers were depserate to make a deal on the Trucks/Suv inventory..Im hoping towards they end of the year they get a bit hungrier.

They are. However, it's probably harder for them to get rid of your SUV with 85k than it is to put somebody in a new one with a trade-in that is a little easier to move off of the lot.

Re: Sales Help??

you owe 15K on a 2002?
howd that happen?

Do you really need to get out of the 2002 and into a 2008?
Im guessing that maybe you rolled a previous car loan into the 2002 tahoe?

Maybe im missing something....
But---- this is what Id do if I were you...........
Do I REALLLLY need an new 08? NO?
Then continue to drive the 02- payoff as much as you can---
then think about selling once youve paid it down...

Do you really need--- Yes---
see if anyone on here can help...
but like they said--- SUV's have lost alot of value... and theyre all over the place.

Re: Sales Help??

Your payment goal is too low for the amount of money you want to put down and the amount of negative equity you're carrying.

On an LS taking the 6k rebate (I'm guessing at your tax/license fees) you're still 4k away from a deal (using 72 months at 5.9%). Add in going to an LT or leather etc and you get the idea why they're not spending any time with you.

Re: Sales Help??

quit wasting all of the dealers time. You owe 10k more than your truck is worth. You are what we refer to as a bad up.

If it is at all possible, or even close to possible, the dealer would have sold you the truck. Dealers can sell for less than the supplier or employee cost but not for less than they own the truck.

Either man up and pay the price of admision or ride out your negitive equity.

It drives me crazy when someone tells me "If you really wanted to sell this truck you would make this deal". Just because at some point you made a bad deal in the past do not blame the dealer that you can not afford the new car (unless he was the one that did that to you in the first place).

As slow as we are now, If you are looking and are anywhere near making a deal you would not be able to walk out of the showroom with out a full tank and a new set of keys.

Re: Sales Help??

Keep your '02 and just spend several hundred having it professionally detailed and restored, maybe get a set of wheels or something to make it look and feel new. Not only are you in crazy debt with your current truck, you'd be shooting yourself in the face with the negative equity on the new one, even if a deal were possible, which I can assure you, it isn't for $500/mo.

Re: Sales Help??

pontiacjs- statement...
reminds me of the people (I know a few) who want the latest- to look cool to their friends or neighbors and simply go into debt- and owe tons of money...
yet try to go out and spend more money they dont have....

Clearly we see many of those people out of homes now as their bad spending habits have bit them in the rear.....
many of those people took out money on that home they bought and went out and purchased SUV's, boats, jet skis, etc.....

dumb dumb dumb
