Ok people of Ontario

Why did the 2008 Ford Focus get 48 MPG hwy and you recieved an $100 Fuel Conservation Tax credit, now 2009 Ford Focus gets 47 MPG hwy and you have to pay $75 Fuel conservation Tax?

What gives? Did the car change at all?

LOL, 1 MPG takes you from "Saver" to "Glutten"

Now I know that 48 MPG is under "Perfect Conditions" but really! a 33 MPG (under perfect conditions) V8 Mustang manual, gets charged $75 Fuel Conservation Tax

Hmm I just saw that your truck is at 19mpg US. Luuucky!!! Our truck is getting 11mpg (2500hd 6.0L).

But it does look better the Canadian way, 13 mpg

As to the original post, I think it's stupid that 1mpg changes it from a saver to a guzzler.

Re: Ok people of Ontario

Taxing a Focus? Shame on people for buying a gas guzzler like the Focus. Maybe Ontario should open their eyes and heavily tax pigs like the Hummer or Tahoe and leave tax grabs on economy cars alone.

The 2009 Pontiac G5 is now rated at 52 MPG - yes higher than Corolla and Yaris!

Or better yet eliminate all the tax grabs and let people buy what they want

>1$ gasoline is plenty of stimulation to buy economical cars... if we had Iranian-style gas prices (8-11 cents / L) then sure. Essentially we are getting screwed twice (and in Quebec, multiple times : "luxury tax" on expensive cars, the gas-guzzler tax, the tax on engine displacement when registering...)
