Re: July sales?

Bad, No traffic at all.
I have 11 (Did 22 Last July) out right now, and looking for more.
But no one is coming in the door at all.

Re: July sales?

Agree - slow here, too. We're used to running first in the zone, but are third this morning. It's gonna take a strong finish to get back up there.

Have to say my fleet sales are as strong as ever. I'll finish my third straight month with over 30 deliveries. Bottom line: Businesses are still buying. You just have to have the right product available.

Good luck, everyone!

Re: July sales?

Gas prices are killing sales now. People still want to buy but have taken such a beating on their trade in values that they can't do anything. I would love to buy a new Silverado or Avalanche right now, but nobody wants to ive me a nickel more than 16k for my 2006. It hurts!!

Trust me, they'd love to, but then what would they do with it? You likely realize that, but it's the verbage that bothers me, knowing the dealer business well.

But aside from that, things have seemed dead in July. Every time I've been into the dealer where we buy & service, close to work, really no one except for a random retiree couple or two sitting down at a deal. The 72 hour extended into July picked things up, but still not much. The trade thing kills it for a lot and the rest just aren't there.

Wonder what the hottest GM products are now, real world, specific trim/equipment included?

Re: July sales?

We're pretty slammed. I have 19 out.
The GM Employee for Friends Scam worked out OK to close deals, Instant Value Certs Scam worked out OK too. Could be better but I'm not complaining, our heads are above water, and I think thats all we can ask for during these times.

Re: July sales?

typical month as a GM salesman:

first few days - no one in their right mind to wait on

mid month - couple units delivered to customers who have to have wheels and can't wait.

end of month - slammed with deliveries under GM short lived promo. clients forced to make snap decisions on major purchase while not receiving appropriate level of service due to circumstance.

so much for "Value Pricing". GM is not to be trusted. the press releases are to the point of absurdity, the announcements hardly worth listeniing to. this is a company in serious need of a management enema.

If you hate GM so much, why do you even come here? You belittle the company and piss on any good news there is. Why don't you bother Toyotanation or some other website.......it's really getting old here.

BTW- nobody from GM is listening to you. You aren't going to change management at GM or the way they do business. Save your keyboard and stop typing!

they said "Give 'em hell Harry". he replied, "I don't give 'em hell, I give 'em the truth and it hurts like hell".

of course GM management isn't listening. that's exactly why they continue to lose TENS of BILLIONS.
let's see, I have personally retailed over 20,000 motor vehicles. GM senior mgt - Zero. hmmm....

Red Ink Rick began running North American operations in the mid 90's. how 'bout them results? the man was chief financial officer, yet unlike your friendly Buickman, he has no accounting degree. wonder why our financials are full of disclosures regarding "material weaknesses in internal controls?

btw...I like it when people underestimate me, makes the job easier.

Re: July sales?

I say again, beancounters should not be CEO's of auto companies! Perhaps not even of mostly any other industry either.

Red In Rick does not know how to manage GM properly. When it comes to a downward spiral as they are in, he only knows how to cut things in great numbers thinking that will right everything.
I got news for ya, Rick, It WON'T!

I think Buickman Likes GM. I saw him on auto line Detroit. As a salesman myself I was impressed by his numbers. He does care and brings something to the table that most executives down to management of local dealers don't. He sold a car or two.
