GMS Price Disparity?

When I build my 2008 Astra on www.gmfamilyfirst.com, it says the GMS price is $18,580.03. However, if you locate the vehicle using that site, it says the GMS price for that car is $18,737.40, which is also the price on the car's invoice. In all cases the MSRP is the same, $20,330.

Why is there a difference in GMS? Is the build your own function just an estimate?

Also, when using GMS aren't the doc fees limited to something like $75?

DOC fees are not limited anymore except by state and local law.

Re: GMS Price Disparity?

According to the GMFamilyfirst site the DOC is limited to $75 on a
GM employee/retiree/family deal. (Unless state or local laws limit less)

Or have they changed it since Mar. 1st. ?????????????

I posted the same document that prints out everywhere. Section 2 of the GM employee price agreement reads as:

Quote:
Amount charged for documentation fees, if over $75, up to state law limit.
We charge $85 and there is nothing GM can do about it. It violates Federal Law for a manufacturer to dictate any pricing to dealer. Some dealers even charge the full $179

You can see the document in post #14 here.

Also, Saturn retailers set their own price, so that may be the cause of the disparity.

I checked the inventory at a retailer in another state, and the prices didn't match, either. In fact, the invoice/inventory price was almost exactly 0.85% higher in both cases.

Re: GMS Price Disparity?

I don't believe what some dealers doctored up form sez!
Heres the real deal from the GM family first website PDF rules:
https://www.gmfamilyfirst.com/GMVPP/...enuId=66695224

Documentation fees
Dealers will be permitted to assess up to
$75 in documentary fees on each delivery to an eligible purchaser under the terms of these programs, unless otherwise provided by state or local laws or regulations. Each dealer is responsible for complying with applicable laws and regulations.

Still sez $75 bucks unless state, local or fed sez different!

When I was involved in my uncles new GM purchase from a wonderful
Philly/NJ dealer group they tried to pull a fast one with the inflated DOC deal.

I can see a GM employee/retiree/buyer walk to another dealer to purchase
over the 10 bucks/phony dealer price sheet/dealer games/etc.........
I don't see any DOC fee differences noted for Saturn either..........

Re: GMS Price Disparity?

our doc fee is 199.50, on gm deals we cut a check back to the gm customer for 124.50, other than that grin and bear it.
