Re: august?

Its been dead. I am in a small dealership in Florida and we had a little bit of a boost but it soured a lot of our deals with trades. Banks are not buying the deals and the customers hate the acv trades.

Re: august?

The sale prices are okay with the GM Employee price for everyone, but since people are trying to trade in Sierras, Silverados, Yukons and Tahoes that market is DEAD. I've seen trades drop 6000 dollars in 6 months, but the payoff is still high.

Re: august?

DEAD! Worst month I've ever had in my 9 years.

Leasing is gone + everyone already gets the GM Discount here.

Just horrible.
All I've been saying all month is "GM does not lease anymore, but..."
And they just walk on out.

We had a local bank step up and offer leases. They're not pretty... 72 months is the new 36 month lease.

I have 6 cars out.

Re: august?

Oy...such a mirror image of my local dealer too. Stopped in Saturday to give an update on my troubled car, and asked how things were. "Eh, we moved a couple, but otherwise dead" in an enthusiastic "want another one, huh, huh?" tone. Of anything, have a glut of Lucernes that just no one will touch, the typical lower/mid level Lacrosse lineup, 5-6 Enclaves (weird...), and a row of G8's that appeared after never having any...and have yet to move at all since May. You know, plus all the ancient new trucks and ute's, that is.

The lack of any leasing probably sealed the deal, too. They get a ton of business from the huge retiree population, all who either finance or just do cash, but also a big chunk--at least before--from others who liked to SmartLease or SmartBuy a variety of things, especially the cars. It was telling when all of a sudden even once popular 1LT Impala's are just sitting idle, in a row. Never before. So bizarre, timing wise, too. I was clued into the lease/SmartBuy when shopping the last few days of June--and this was 0% time too--and did a nice SB deal on a loaded G6. Couldn't touch the price with a 10ft pole now.

Malibu's still move out in no time, though, and interest there is exists largely in "whatever is small". But the lack of leasing just murdered a lot across the board.

Wonder what post Sept. 2 will bring...0% and GMS? Whatever it is, there's still a lot of inventory.

Re: august?

Do any of you think leasing will come back as it was per se? I have been a leasee for a while and like it. I was looking to get my wife a new Equinox when they come out. But if buying is the only smart option, we might just hang on to the one we've got now and run it into the ground. Any options ahead?

Havent heard any rumblings about return of leasing.
Also, even when GMAC leases were great, the Nox's and Torrent's havent been leasing out well for the last 2 years anyway.
