Anyone sell GMC?

Any of you tired of the unfair advantage that the idiots at GM give to Chevrolet for the same darned truck? I think some people at GM need to be replaced. GMC can sell more if we have a level playing field! If they would give us more production rather than limited us as they always do, GMC could indeed increase sales. But that will never happen because they think chevy is god!

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

I sold at a Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealer that moved more product then the other two GM dealers(both Chevy, one w/Hummer) in town put together.

A GMC has a cost of about $300 more then the "same" Chevy but if a salesman can't help the customer see the Envoy has an interior that is worth a few hundrad bucks more then the Trailblazer then there are bigger issues in that dealership then anything GM is doing.

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

I sell those four brands but I see it as GMC cannibalizing my Chevrolet sales. It'd be more worthwhile to me if GMC actually added something to the brand (IE stripping sales from Ford and Dodge). Besides, as a Cadillac salesman, I perceive Yukon-buyers as too good to buy a Chevrolet but too cheap to buy Cadillac.

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

Chevy is a little cheaper than GMC because the Chevy is supposed to be the lower class vehicle. It sells more because it is cheaper. GMC has always been classified as a step up from Chevy and used to go through a more rigorous inspection process and used better materials. Even though they are basically the same now, you can still get a GMC with more plush options than Chevy (ie. Denali lineup).

Sometimes I wonder, if Chevrolet used a billet grille, would GMC go out of business?

You think that is why GM makes Chevy's so ugly year after year?
To keep GMC printing money for them.

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

Well, like it or not Chevy does sell more. They have been in that position for decades and decades now. I will tell you this about GMC and that is that GMC sales from one thing I read a couple years ago now stated that GMC sales are up about 70% since GMC has been promoted as a step above Chevy with their ad campaign of "We are Professional Grade." This was before the Acadia which in my mind is an absolutely great product.

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

We have several GM plants in town, so we get shopped by the employees a lot. They know that basically they are the same, so bull**** wont work. USED to be we were only about 200 which is easy to justify, but now we are seeing upwards to 2000 difference. If you think this is wrong, price them out on autobook. I have sold GM products for a long time, everything but buick and cad. I prefer GMC Pontiac or Olds over cheby. The attitude of chey at corporate level and below really stinks. My .02

Oh I must say Thank You to GM for making the chevy trucks Ugly!

My complaint is that GMC should have a level playing field in the big game of truck sales!

Well if you want something that looks like a Ford truck frontend then buy a GMC.

Why you say that, the GMC has a red logo and the Ford a blue logo

To be honest I do prefer the GMC's to Chevies, going all the way back to the 1950's with little exception, the GMC's always look better IMO. Plus the old GMC V6 was cool

Better attention to detail in the Sierra. Much prefer the Sierra to the SIlverado. And as for the 09 Ford being a worry; I think not. We still offer active fuel management, and our 09 trucks will come with an optional hybrid 2 mode

I sell both. It's about 50/50. Price based on option for option is the same. GM also offers the exact same residuals, rates and incentives on all the trucks, GMC or Chevy.

Re: Anyone sell GMC?

There is absolultely no difference between the trucks except for styling. I looked at a GMC (the one I looked at was $33K) and a Chevy ($35K- b/c it came with the audio package).

I got the Chevy.

The diff. btw the Envoy and Trailblazer is enough to change a purchase decision (the Envoy interior looks much better), as is the Tahoe and Yukon (the Tahoe exterior looks better). I'd prefer the Z71 Tahoe over the Denali Yukon.

I also think the pickups look different (the Chevy looks more like a Dodge or Ford Super Duty while the GMC looks more like an F150), but for me it wasn't enough to change my mind. I liked both to be honest. They both had things about them that I didn't like, like mis-matched fenders on the GMC that hardly anyone notices unless they are picky like me, and the big chrome grill on the Chevy that is slightly overdone.

Personally, I cross shopped the two as if they were the same brand. The GMC dealership had a smaller selection and stocked mostly crew cab 2wd trucks (we are soccer dad grade!) just like Ford did. The Chevy dealership had a better selection that happend to include exactly what I wanted. They had plenty of Z71 4x4s for me to choose from. I almost got a black one before I decided that I liked the 17" wheels better than the 18" wheels.

I could have easily been in a GMC truck, but there was only one around that was equipped the way that I like it...but it was bright red (not my thing). The diff btw GMC and Chevy is not the same as the difference between Buick and Pontiac....esp not in pickup trucks.
