Re: Wards Ten Best Engines For 2008
Especially surprising considering the 3.7 in the G37 - 330 horsepower from 3.7 liters naturally aspirated, and better economy than the 306 horsepower engine in the G35.

Re: Wards Ten Best Engines For 2008
Yes it is surprising that the Ford motor made it and the 2.0 SIDI motor did not make it for GM.
The Mod motor is not particularly powerful, efficient, or quiet. Can't imagine why it's on the list ALL the time. |

Re: Wards Ten Best Engines For 2008
GM and Ford(Mazda) were the only ones with multiple winners which is good. I look for GM to get another engine on the 09 list along with the Twin-Force Ford engines coming out.

Re: Wards Ten Best Engines For 2008
It's effectively there. The 3.7 VQ is basically the same engine, just with slightly larger displacement. They picked it over the 3.5 because it is the most advanced, highest horsepower variant of the VQ series. Prior to the 3.5, Wards always picked the 3.0L VQ, which was the predecessor to the 3.5, but still part of the same VQ series of engines.

However, the LS9 will come out in the 2009 Corvette ZR-1 - so obviously it can't be listed on the Ward 2008 engine list. |

Re: Wards Ten Best Engines For 2008
I'm surprised that the HEMI is not listed rather than some feeble V-6 engines which aren't even that fuel efficient. My Chrysler 300 is getting 19 MPG between the lights in city driving. Not only do I have maximum comfort and the admiring looks of fellow drivers, I can dust cars which are higher end in the Sedan class. Until our Automotive writers become more objective and less subjected by mass media campaigns; we will continue to be barraged by "imports are superior" propaganda even though, most are made here in the USA. I wonder how they figure workers at some plant in Kentucky are any better or worse at assembly than workers at a plant in Detroit for example.
But I did like those Dodge Chargers blowing by Tony Stewart in his sell-out Camry during the Daytona 500! http://jalopnik.com/352792/2008-dodg...led-officially Check out the new Challenger. Regards, Laser Quote:

I don't find the picture in and of itself offensive but when you post it...
