About time somebody says it. The first time somebody sees the Volt it will be because of this commercial.

Re: Volt Already On TV

The technology is a really nice concept, (pardon the pun) but I don't know that I'd want to be driving a car around that sounded like this:

Besides, I've always found the Voltz's styling to be average at best.

You must realize that the 2010 number is their "worst possible scenario" release date.

I've said it before: the people I know in GM design and engineering have said that the Volt will hit sooner than you expect. The vehicle is really not overly complicated and much testing has already been done. GM talks this thing up because they know it is reality and they expect it out sooner rather than later.

GM's new vehicles are feel old before they are even launched because of the crap they pull of showcasing their vehiles so far before they launch but this has clearly taken the cake.
Agreed. GM's setting them up for a fall when they get beat to the marketplace with a Volt-like vehicle. Why hype products you aren't selling? Who really is going to buy a Chevrolet TODAY based on a product that 3 years away? This is out of control hype. Pure and simple.

I guess this is to boost the GREEN image of GM a little bit before the upcoming auto season. I wonder what new concepts (at least one must be GREEN that GM has up its sleeves, besides the Flex-treme).

Why not? It sounds like it is tearing down the road even though it is doing 10mph.

Re: Volt Already On TV

Chevy needs to dump The American Revolution slogan yesterday!
Go back to See the USA in your Chevrolet, something other than that loser campaign.
Most companies realize if sales are dropping, time to change ads and slogans. Bring back 'Like a Rock' also while you're at it.
Caddy may need to bring back the Breakthrough campaign, it was working, although they need a different tune. Break on Through to the other Side by The Doors would be perfect.

Agreed GM has at least 2-3 dual mode trucks debuting next year and little has been heard about them outside the autoshow I went to earlier this year. I believe if GM were going to market a greener image they should have a made a segway between the mild hybrid products currently available and soon fourth coming the dual modes that will be released next year and the E-Flex technology that will be used in the Volt. This ad does have alot of shock value considering the source but I think it's far too early to claim victory in the battle over fuel consumption when I haven't even seen a test mule produced for this car as of yet. I think the 3rd or 4th quarters of 08' would have been more appropriate to start a marketing campaign for the Volt because thats when I'm hoping most people will be able to get signed up and put on a waiting list for this much anticipated car.

Re: Volt Already On TV

I'm ready to buy one of these bad boys. I have four simple criteria, okay five.
  • As long as it looks cool, like the concept, not dorky like the Prius.
  • 0-60 in under 9 seconds (At least. Quicker is better. )
  • In-dash Nav & Bluetooth (at least as options)
  • 5-door configuration to give it Prius-rivaling practicality.
  • No more than $31k, fully-loaded.

I saw them at the Red Sox-Yankee game too.

He looked familiar but I couldn't place him. I figured he was an actor who did comedy, that's the type he looks like.
His voice doesn't bother me a bit.
The fact that GM has produced three quality Chevy ads is...wait, let me pinch me to make sure this isn't a dream.

OUCH! No, it's real. Good work, GM. Better late than never.

$30,000 would by 10,000 gallons of gasoline for your present paid for car and if you get 15 MPG that and drive 15,000 a year that would last you 10 years. i don't see how this car will save you any money

Re: Volt Already On TV

I liked the commercial with the Volt. I have a gut feeling that when the Chevy Volt goes on sale, it's going to sell like water. I wonder how the production version will look? I do know for sure that the production Volt's interior is not going to look anything like the concept's interior obviously, but it's probably going to borrow some design cues from the concept's interior. I hope that GM doesn't change the exterior design that much either because the concept's exterior looks very nice and upscale.
