I think its good to run ads on the Volt early and before production.

1. It lets the many people out there who don't know abou the Vol know about it.

2. It lets the public know that GM is producing/engineering fuel efficient cars. This can help change public perception about GM being gas-guzzlers.

3. This can help people who might be looking at buying a car a few years from now choose a car that's very fuel efficient. My car payment is up in 2009, who knows what stage the Volt will be in.

The "Hammer" one is good, too. I like the ads.

Man I wish I had enough for a new CTS and an Enclave! Sigh.

Re: Volt Already On TV

hmmmm- I don't know about this. It could be a great big boost for GM and their rep or a huge fall on their face. I really hope GM has ALL their homework done on this vehicle. It needs to be affordable and mass produceable and bring in a profit for GM. I hope it is a huge advancement for GM with this vehicle!

Re: Volt Already On TV

I don't know. Not a good idea to be constantly flogging the Volt. GM should be preparing the public for the Two-Modes first; but not a word on them and most of the public has no idea they are even coming out soon.

It may be a better ad, but at least you can buy a Camry Hybrid *right now* if you want one. That's the difference.

Not everyone follows industry news as religiously as we (people who frequent sites like this) do. They have to keep this kind of stuff in front of the mainstream consumer to build interest. The Camaro is old news for most of us, but I have customers who've only heard rumors of the concept. They haven't even seen pictures! I would wager that most people just don't know about new products or just don't care.

I'm betting they'll start advertising that sometime next week. A car with batteries that don't exist charged by fuel we can't buy. Maybe the plan is to disable the competition due to hernias from laughing at GM's ad programs. Yep, it's those lazy UAW guys who are sinking this company.

Exactly...I don't know how many "non-car-guys" are going to wait around 3 years to get a "greener" car.

Most Americans, unfortuately, are not very patient or pro-domestic anymore. GM needs to put everything they've got into getting this to market faster than 2010.
