Re: Saab 9-4x To Debut In Detroit

It would have been logical for Saab to debut in LA or NY. Since, Saab is a better seller on the West Coast and in New England.
Caddy is a true "All American" brand that would fit right in Detriot.

Yes, but Detroit would have even less resources if people were to be turned away from the show because of the facilities or if it lost it's position as the leading show in North America.

Re: Saab 9-4x To Debut In Detroit

I hope Cadillac shows the BRX in NYC - to go on sale next fall. I hate it that the 9-4X is going to be shown nearly two years prior to its on sale date. GM should take a note from Honda - introduce the vehicle just a couple months before sales begin. Hell - even Chrysler didn't introduce their vans until less than a year from their on sale date. That makes more sense than this 18-24 month lead time. People will forget abou it by then...

My current ride - 2004 Mazda6s - V6 with a five speed manual. GM forced me to the competition because they didn't offer a midsize sedan with a V6 and manual transmission.

Way to add the "un" to educated guess.

NYC and Chicago both get the same weather, LA has a higher rate of gang activity and Detroit is home to the big three.

Kudos to the stupid answer.

New England and New York City, while being next to eachother, are almost 2 different parts of the world.
New York is the financial capital of the US, where else would you release a high end luxury car? NYIAS should be Caddy's, and they need to work on making a better presentation. Last years kinda sucked.

Re: Saab 9-4x To Debut In Detroit

So, apart from the discussion about showplaces and facilities....

This seems to be one of the first vehicles from saab that will be completely new; Unless a new 9-5 or a 9-5 sized concept is also released during the same show, I would like to know if this production model or concept 9-4X will be utilizing the new design language that will be Saab. I would doubt (thinking logically here) that even the styling of the most recent 9-3 refresh will make it onto the 9-4X, and instead we will be seeing design cues that will be carried over to the new 9-5.

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out....
