I don't understand that either. They should commit the resources to get it launched almost at the same time as the coupe.

I'm starting to agree that they've blown the Camaro launch. They revealed it far too long before they're getting it on the road. It does have kind of an old news feel to it now. Maybe they had to reveal it to gauge the true interest level.

Maybe it'll just blow everyone away when they see it in the flesh. It was impressive at the auto shows.

I don't understand what resources they would have to commit to get it out with the coupe. Its ready, what can the problem possibly be. I really don't think they blew the launch, if people want a Camaro they are going to buy. Seeing it in pictures and owning it/driving it are two different things.

Yeah, I knew there'd have to be something. Seeing as those cars don't sell here though I wasn't familiar with it. Throw that in to the equipment list then!

Re: Production Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Revealed!

What I don't understand is why the coupe can't be an actual hardtop, seeing how the engineering for the roll-down rear-quarter glass is already done. Surely the coupe wouldn't need all the obesity inducing braces that are required of the convertible. My guess is that (if the real truth were known) it was mainly for buget reasons that we didn't see the return of the true hardtop Camaro.

Let's not forget that the vast majority of the world hasn't seen anywhere near as much of this car as we all do. We seek out spy photos, insider tidbits, glean material from press releases and executive comments, and then we overanalyze it to the nth degree. We're enthusiasts; junkies; car crazy, gasoline-in-our-veins, high-octane, rubber-burnin' groupies of the decidedly American variety. While we may have been looking at this thing repeatedly for the better part of two years, my wife provided me perspective at the Chicago Auto Show. She saw the convertible for the first time (having seen the coupe once before) and fell in love. She picked it over the Dodge Challenger which we also really liked. The key: she didn't know much about it, even being married to me (which is like being married to a walking encyclopedia/billboard). Can you imagine how little the vast majority of the public knows? I think GM is depending on us to get the word out, and I for one plan on doing a REALLY good job. After all, all of those folks buying V6s and Z28s make the business case for my SS!

Re: Production Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Revealed!

^^^^^ Ha, when I told my co-workers I'm going to buy the new Camaro next year, none of them had a clue the car has been discontinued since 2002. They all thought they were still making them.

To put it in another perspective, none of them knew the Accord was redesigned this year either.

The conversations I have with these people about cars makes me realize many of the stigmas we see (domestic = POS, foreign = infallible) really do exist in the minds of the general public. Its maddening.

But I do my part to try and re-educate the masses..........

Re: Production Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Revealed!

That car is a flat out beauty!! Yeah it looks aggressive and mean but I love it. I'm also very happy to see that the headlights are very similar to the concepts headlights. Love the exterior's curves and everything about it overall. Now we need higher quality pictures and some pictures of the interior.
