Only based on the rumors we have heard. Dual-wing grille (ala MKS) is a given. Other than that...not really. Ford has been very quiet about this vehicle.

What is this car? I haven't heard about it.

Is it a Town Car replacement?

No, its the Lincoln version of the Ford Flex you might say, except its said to be "curvy". Igor can give a much better description.

Why? The Ford Flex looks like an over grown Scion Xb. Their NA styling sucks. And I'm sure with the current Lincolns, the MKT will be just another disaster. The MKS is already one and its not even out yet.

Re: NAIAS 08 Coverage Peaking!

Is that "peaking", as in reaching it's maximum?

Or should it be "peeking", as in getting a preview?

We got a preview weeks ago.

After this weekend coverage is basically done...nothing exciting happens at the public show.

I wouldn't be so quick in dismissing it. First, unlike most current Lincolns, the MKT will have its own sheetmetal. So unlike most Lincolns, it won't actually look like the Ford it is based on. That, and Lincolns sales are up some 9% over last year. ( The Town Car is now virtually exclusive to fleet now. But they are included in the sales totals nonetheless.) Most of its competition is down. This has more to do with the new product being thrown at Lincoln. 4 new models between 2006 and 2008. The Zephyr in 2006,changed to MKZ in 2007. The MKX, the MKS coming this summer, then the MKT that we will see tonight.

None of the current Lincolns have been a disaster, they just aren't the best. That might be your opinion, but its hardly valid. And really, the MKS isn't a disaster, people are whining 'cause there is no V8. You need to take a happy pill or somethin.

No, Ford is just going the ways of Chrysler right now. I don't even care that the MKS has no V8. I am talking about its styling. The grill is poorly done, the headlights are a rip off from Acura, and the tail lights are that off a Maserati. I mean these are suppose to be Lincolns, I really believe they need help recreating the brand, not stealing aspects from others. Also every vehicle looks different, there is no unity. Ford needs to get on the ball with exterior styling in order to get the customers to come in to the showroom. Ford of Europe's design needs to come over here, Mercury should stay as is, but with more bolder styling, and Lincoln needs a complete overhaul just like Cadillac started to do a few years back. Its the only way to keep Ford alive.

Please I'll believe it when I see it! Ford is notorious for changing a few elements between its 3 brands. They are still stuck on rebadging in a way, ie the F-150 as that Lincoln truck. I mean come on, are they not seeing whats going on over at GM? The MKZ is uninspiring, the MKX is different, but not too much different than the Edge, and the MKS is not head turning like it should be, just as the CTS is. So if you can tell, my hopes for something different and new from the Lincoln brand are fleeting. Lincolns should be sharp, yet elegant. Cadillacs and Lincolns were the cars to have back in the 50's and 60's. Why can't they be again today? Cadillacs are closer then ever to that status, I think Lincolns should be too.

Better still, should it be "piquing," as in to arouse interest or curiosity? Our collective curiousity is piqued by Detroit's unveilings at the NAIAS.

Generally, I agree. As a result of the better design of the CTS, I think you will find Cadillac moving more $40,000 CTS's than Lincoln will $40,000 MKS's.

Is there any coverage of any auto shows that are televised? If so, what station would they be on and when?
