Cheverolet Releases Sneak Peek of 2008 Malibu

DETROIT, Mich. – Chevrolet today released an advance image of the exterior of the all-new 2008 Malibu, which will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January and will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships later in 2007. The photo was released in conjunction with the announcement of a $208 million investment in the Fairfax, Kansas Assembly plant to prepare for production of the car.

The image reveals a partial shot of the front of the car featuring a dual-port grille, which is described as representing the “new face of Chevrolet.”

“The 2008 Malibu design is expressive and brings new proportions and a fresh perspective to the mid-size market,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. “The new Malibu boasts a poised, wheels-at-the-corners stance with a longer hood and shorter deck appearance that conveys motion, agility and attitude.”

Chevrolet previously released a sneak peek of one of the car’s available two-tone interiors, which demonstrates a much more upscale look and feel with more premium materials and a new level of refinement in the extremely competitive mid-size car segment.

Not as eye-catching and aggressive as I would have hoped. I guess there's still the Impala though.

i hope that's not a shot of the Malibu, because if it is then they need to go back to the drawing board.

Looks a bit like a mix of the current Impala's and the Outlook's fronts. Combine two bland looking fronts and get another bland looking front.

I wonder it it's a chop or if it's real.

Since this came from a GM press release, I'd say it is the next Malibu. I like it!

I'm wondering the same thing. Edmunds was reporting it like it was real.

cobalt. looks more like a cobalt. the car looks narrow like a cobalt.

I don't know about that pic. The front end seems wayyyy to busy. However, it does look substancially better than the current Malibu.

I'd say that's an illusion b/c the front is so "tall". There's some height to the front end that makes it look narrow --- at least that's what I think.

I'll reserve judgement til I see it in person, but it certainly looks better than the current Malibu.

Is it me, but if you take away the Chevy emblem, it could pretty much be from any company from Japan, Korea or Europe.

Anything looks better than the current Malibu... but is it better looking enough to fend off the next Accord or even the current Camry?

I like it! I saw a photo of a test mule in flat Black that looked great I think the photo angle and color and the fact that we can't see the contours of the side of the car which make this look a little strange. Either way it's a huge improvement over the current car's right angles and sharp edges. I think its going to be hot. I hope it has a rear spoiler, something I think Aura really lacks.

Either way it's a huge improvement over the current car's right angles and sharp edges. I think its going to be hot. I hope it has a rear spoiler, something I think Aura really lacks.
