Re: Let The Awards Continue!

Congrats to the folks at GM.

As mentioned previously, when GM builds class-leading products, just about everyone will sing praise. My hope is that this translates well on the dealer lots, though the Corvette historically seems to have done fine in this respect, and the new CTS has already beat its eventual sales goal of 5,000/month starting in the first month and without a coupe of V version. I hope LGR's planning for a lot of overtime work!

The above also explains why I am relentlessly critical of GM. Just when they come up with all the reasons they cannot be competitive, they end up building fantastic(!) cars like the Corvette, the CTS, and the [unmentioned above] Enclave. I'd love to see more of those kinds of efforts throughout the lineup.

Now get back to work on Delta, Epsilon II, Alpha...!

Overall though, isn't all of this much much much better than having a whole bunch of uninspired crappy cars but instead people bought only american?

the system works.

Amen! This segment of the market for the Average Joe/Jane, is the one that will need much attention in the future. The Corolla, Sentra, and Civic need to have targets on their respective backs placed there by GM. They have shown the abillity to compete (Aura, Malibu, Enclave, Outlook, Acadia, and Corvette).

Likewise, it would be nice to see all the domestics start to show this kind of initiative.

As I have said in prior posts, thwe best thing for America's economy, is for the folks at GM, Ford, and Chrysler to get serious about the products they offer to the market. While niche marketing is attention getting, does it really draw people to the entire line of vehicles made by each manufacturer?

Go get 'em guys!

Actually, depending on where you're from it is. It's an accent thing.

I often say them the same way, it all depends on the sentence I guess. I never thought about it 'til now. Just like this sentence-

Can what you can.

In each instance most people would pronounce 'can' differently.

The accent I just can't get over is when someone insists 'Harry' and 'Hairy' are pronounced the same! LOL

This is no victory untill these awards actually translate into increased sales... However, these rankings are most definitely a couple giant steps in the right direction. Lets keep it coming GM!

Re: Let The Awards Continue!

Well this is awesome news! Lately GM has been racking up a lot of awards and we can only hope that they keep on coming. I'm sure that these awards will definitely help GM gain more sales. After all the new Chevy Malibu and the new Cadillac CTS are definitely world class cars in their respective segments.

Re: Let The Awards Continue!

More good news for GM! Let's see if they can keep their winning ball roling for years to come; especially with the next Camaro coming out late '08.

Don't forget the ground effects of the Toyota Corolla and (some of) the Camry, especially the former. Talk about ugly...yet we never hear about that. If they were GM's we would...

While GM is certainly to blame for many of their problems, there is not denying that the magazines have delighted in bashing some of their cars needlessly. I canceled Motor Trend when their article on the Solstice spent half the time bashing the Fiero from 20 years ago...like the 1986 Toyotas were real winners.
