Now add Cobalt and Camaro to that list and I will be a happy camper

I understand the need. Can't put a V6 in a vehicle and call it GTO. Never have, never will.

As I said in the other, similar, thread:

That's all good news.

But lets wait until the newness wears off and see if the Malibu makes it on the list next year.

I would be surprised if it did.

Re: Let The Awards Continue!

The fun continues...

From Car & Driver after driving the new Matrix:

Indeed, while the new 2009 Corolla, which looks like a size-smaller Toyota Camry, the new Matrix looks more like a size-larger Scion xD, only duller, unless there is body cladding attached to it. The Vibe, on the other hand, looks better than ever, especially without body cladding. Wait, did we just say that?

Heard a rumor this morning that the Chevy Malibu/Saturn Aura Hybrids were being 'delayed'. Anyone know anything about this?

I mean really why not be happy for them instead of being pessimistic and thinking of how next year they will not succeed....I’m sure with the help of your crystal ball. Still any car that does not get upgrades will have a hard time keeping the top spot.

I agree, but I view the situation the other way around:

It's about time that GM started building cars worthy of that recognition.

GM is offering some good products today. CTS and Malibu are examples of what the company can produce if it cuts no corners. They must now build every vehicle that way, aiming for leadership in every class in which it competes.

Half-hearted attempts will produce cars such as LaCrosse, Colorado, STS, etc. They are decent but not class-leading.

Let's hope those awards translate into public awareness and sales. So far, so good.

That is what I have heard. I'm wondering if they plan on giving them the same work over that they gave the Vue. Better mileage than what is announced?

Re: Let The Awards Continue!

These awards will help change public perception of General Motors' products, particularly if General Motors' advertises that they have won these awards. It is the best type of advertisement, very positive and free.

Re: Let The Awards Continue!

Funny, no batter how bad the honda is it makes the list.

Congrats GM. The new Malibu really is turning out to be everything you guys hoped it would be (from a press stand point). Now lets hope the public feels the same.

I hope you are right but a lot of people I talk to, either don't believe it or havn't heard. It's still hard for a lot of people to imagine GM has come so far.
