Fins, dam that even makes dinosaurs look recent. Side vents aren't really a new fad, they been on some cars for decades *cough**cough*Buick*cough**cough*.

I think the side vent were forgotten then were re-discovered and came back, and now is a fad,
although I think they will always be around in some form or another now for more expensive brands maybe

'vette is one vehicle model out of how many? Worldwide? I bet GM (and other makes) would love a full line of vettes and their classic looks...but they don't have them. By 2012 the Astra 'look' will be ~10 yrs old, Captiva/Antara/Vue 6 yrs.

That's my point, they look similar to current, it was immediately obvious....taking a longer look shouldn't be necessary to see the difference....unless we are trying to ease in a new style as Holden does between major model changes, not really revitalisation, more like subtle evolution.

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Saturn Lineup

I wonder what the next fad for cars will be. There also begs the question of if Chevy will do so many special edition Camaros like Ford is with the Mustang and the GT500. In some ways it is a laughing matter, but in others it makes good sense to sell people a personalized vehicle that stands out from the rest.

I can't be bothered getting into this.
why fix something that ain't broken, saturns look good.
of course these models would get face lifts etc over time, but start life as you have seen them.
all I'll say is by 2012 not much will be that different.
I can't wait to see a VE in 2012 lol

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Saturn Lineup

Some great ideas, but I just don’t see how some this would ever see the light. Having things like a DSG transmission AND an automatic offered is just silly, a waste of company resources. They both serve the same function, and the more options/components you have the more money you spend on repair costs, research, assembly lines, etc. These cars would be great if we lived in a perfect world where we could just set prices for something that sounds “good”. But I just don’t see how you can pick a design, set a price and what you want, and scream, why don’t you do this? Well GM would go bankrupt and loose money on every car if they did this. Let’s not forget automakers pay people to do market research, and they know what makes them money. We can ask for what we want and even pretend we know whats best by posting in this forum what we think GM should do, but in the end we don’t have the full picture that they have.

These cars, if they ever appear, are still at least 3+ years away. If GM cannot arrest its market share declines then there may not be a GM left. Still, they could always sell Saturn off...

I agree they need to grab this thing by the horns and at least level off. Getting rid of Saturn would be a foolish thing to do they have some of the best products that GM has to offer. Chrysler has far less brands than GM in they are in far worse condition than GM.

Yeah but you have to figure the prices of the hondas/toyotas/nissans will go up with minimum wage and everything else. Saturn will still have a competetive price.

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Saturn Lineup

I'm so sick of GM spending all of their time on Saturn. I wish they would spend their time on Pontiac! I have always loved Pontiacs. That was GM's sport division. But their current lineup is not so great. GM -- please spend more effort on Pontiac! And bring back the FIREBIRD!! =)

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Saturn Lineup

Everything is very nice and appropriate in my opinion, except for the Switch. I don't get it. Saturn really doesn't need something like this. GM has truck coverage in other brands. Another thing I would change would be the B-segement car. The car is beautiful, but it should be called Corsa. The Signal should be at the flagship car on the Zeta architecture.

Here's how I think it should be in about 2011-2012.

Corsa (B-segment architecture)
Body styles: 3-door, 5-door, and 4-door sedan
Trim levels: XE, GL, XR, RL
Engines: DI 1.6L I-4, DI 1.4L I-4/Hybrid, DI 1.8L I-4, Supercharged 1.8L I-4
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic

Astra (C-segement architecture)
Body styles: 3-door, 5-door, 4-door sedan, TwinTop
Trim levels: XE, GL, XR, RL
Engines: DI 2.0L I-4, DI 1.8L I-4/Hybrid, DI 2.6L I-4, Supercharged DI 2.6L I-4
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic

Vue (Theta)
Body styles: 5-door SUV
Trim levels: XE, GL, XR, RL
Engines: DI 2.6L I-4, DI 2.6L I-4/Hybrid, DI 2.8L V-6, DI 3.6L V-6
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 7-speed automatic

Aura (Epsilon 2)
Body styles: 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon
Trim levels: XE, GL, XR, RL
Engines: DI 2.6L I-4, DI 2.6L I-4/Hybrid, DI 2.8L V-6 , 3.6L V-6, DI 3.6L V-6
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 7-speed automatic

Outlook (Lambda)
Body style: 5-door SUV
Trim levels: XE, GL, XR
Engines: DI 3.2L V-6, DI 2.8L V-6/Hybrid, DI 3.6L V-6
Transmissions: 7-speed automatic

Signal (Zeta)
Body style: 4-door sedan
Trim levels: XE, XR, RL
Engines: DI 3.6L V-6, DI 4.5L V-8, Supercharged DI 4.5L V-8
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 7-speed automatic

Sky (Kappa)
Body style: 2-door roadster
Trim Level: Sky, RL
Engines: DI 2.6L I-4, Supercharged DI 2.6L I-4
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 7-speed automatic

Calibra Coupe (Alpha)
Body style: 2-door coupe
Trim Level: XE, XR, RL
Engines: DI 3.2L V-6, DI 3.6L V-6, Supercharged DI 3.6L V-6
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 7-speed automatic
