Re: GMI Revitalization in Action; The Dream Pontiac Lineup
I really like the G8, I think it's a very realistic take on what Pontiac would make out of the VE Commodore and would be very easy to produce.

The GTO and Firebird don't really float my boat...especially the front ends. The G8 looks great, I like those lights inside of the grille. The G6 looks good except for the nose.

Re: GMI Revitalization in Action; The Dream Pontiac Lineup
Pardon me while a clear the "vurp" from my throat, and try not to laugh.
Man, those look stupid. That GTO is OK, but still dosen't set my soul on fire. I'm just glad you guys are NOT in the design studio. C'mon that "G8" is just a photchopped Grand Prix. Same materials. Not even close to the presence the G6 has. The other stuff just looks lilke the Pirahhna concept from a few years ago, which was rightly killed. Those look downright comical. Cartoonish. At what point will Ren and Stimpy enter? They are also not "warm" at all. The Camaro looks "warm". The HHR has "warmth". The SSR has "warmth". Even the new Sierra and Silverado excude a "warmth". For GTO? I wanna see something which "hints" to the '65-67'. ![]()

Re: GMI Revitalization in Action; The Dream Pontiac Lineup
Guys, I appreciate the hard work you put into this. I can only imagine what hard work you've put into this. But, I digress here. There are somethings here that irk me about each one of your designs.
The Firebird: What's going on with those fly-eye headlamps? There's ten of them for each lamp. And the lower faceia is rather plain. I say no to the wrap-around rear window -- that element didn't work on the second-generation F-Body mid-cycle enhancement and it doesn't work here. The GTO: Did Bangle or Van-hooy-donk manage to get a spot on your team? Some very odd things are going on here with this design. The front end is. . .I want to say "cheeky." And I mean that in a "fat kid" way. I do, however, like how you managed to make the hood cutlines avoid cutting into the faceia; very nice cue there. The G8: Too much Grand Prix and Commodore SSV and not enough originallity here. You could've went farther with this car. The headlamps should have been refined on the final rendering. The turn signals in the grille, however, I do like. Again, that's a nice cue on this car. Same for the modest glasshouse kick-up. The G6: Overall, it's a nice design. But I see too much Bangle influence here. That's not what Pontiac should do. Emulating BMW should be put to bed and left for the LSD addicts over at Toyota to try to rip-licate. The design is a little too snub nosed. The grilles are a nice cue, though. They should have found their way to the G8 in some form. |

its a holden VE (if you read the text) and it only looks like a GP for two reasons: its a Pontiac and its our 2008 replacement for the GP. as for your idea for the GTO, I doubt there all ever be any GTO produced to look like a 65 for lots of reasons, although they are cool cars of course. seeya

Re: GMI Revitalization in Action; The Dream Pontiac Lineup
There are lots of interesting design ideas here. It is certainly clear that Pontiac needs to be a bit more aggressive with its designs. I for one am very impressed with the GTO Concept. I thought it had the right blend of Retro and Modern design elements.

Re: GMI Revitalization in Action; The Dream Pontiac Lineup
I like the look of the GTO except for the bumper. This would be an awesome lineup except get rid of the G# names. Bring back Bonneville and Grand Am(people say it has a bad rap but I love that name).
