Get rid of tha goddamned Outlook now, the Traverse negates the need for it, bring over the Zafira and everyone's happy.
GMC needs Lambdas to offset their GMT-900s...I really really think this is a bad move.

Its sad, the Acadia is the best one, in my opinion, but if they are going to continue with the Enclave, it does make sence to cut the Acadia out of the same sales channel. I guess they make more money per Enclave then they do per Acadia....

I think that GMC should not be cut, but rid of all car based CUV. Stick with the Sierra and the Yukons. Close down Hummer and give GMC the H3 and H4/HX if it is not already dead. Let Buick take the CUVs.

Do not shut down any brands except for maybe Hummer(keep the name for special GMC's) and refine the brands in BPG more. I know everyone is saying it, but I never see GM really doing it. Buick - Luxury, Pontiac - Sport (No poorly done FWD cars any more), GMC - Truck based only.

I know the Acadia and Enclave is the same, But at the same time they are so diffrent. Those two imo could be sold side by side. Dropping the Acadia is a dumb move.

Does this mean that the Denali concept has zero chance of being produced? Or, is this where the funding for that program will come from?

Stop the hysteria! I think you're all jumping to conclusions about GMC being cut. I'd bet that there are a lot of projects across all brands being cut right now as GM rethinks its strategy for the future. Now, if the next Sierra and Yukon get cut, I'd be worried about GMC. But right now, I think GM is just replanning for the future.

Gas prices and CAFE are going to halve the GM truck market. Doesn't make sense to spend money on GMC marketing and engineering. I know there are a lot of GMC fans but the cuts have to be made somewhere. Everyone is pointing to Saturn and don't be surprised by the next move.....

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

I don't believe that they will be looking to cut Pontiac...yet. My reasoning is Pontiac has the most fuel efficient vehicles in the BPG lineup. Plus Pontiac gets the younger crowd into the showroom easier than Buicks do. I don't think that cuts in the GMC lineup are unforseen.

What Chevy/GMC needs to do is come out with a class leading replacement for the Canyon/Colorado. I think that they have neglected that part of the maket for too long with substandard product. I see people that still want a truck but not the gas bill looking at small pickups. Too bad the only credible small pickup is made by Toyota.

If this news is true, then this is the beggining of the end fro GMC. You can't survive on a couple of rebadges. When GM quit investing in Oldsmobile proudct and Chrysler quit with Plymouth, it was a message to the market that the end was near. Same applies here.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

It's probably worth mentioning that the Acadia survived the first round of Lambda cuts about a year ago. They had it down to Acadia V. Outlook as to which should die, they picked the Outlook to cut from the next-generation due to the Acadia's superior sales and the fact Opel had a nice replacement for the Outlook ready for Saturn.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

It's stupid to kill the Acadia, especially since it probably gets the best fuel economy of anything GMC sells. That's if they aren't planning to kill this brand.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

This could be good fellas and fellettes.

Acadia, Yukon and Escalade all could move to a Unibody SUV giving more truck like capability with car manners while offering V6 and V8 engine choices. Yukon and Acadia could merge as one SUV in a few years. With the truck market getting smaller, no sense in a truck brand to have 2 7-8 passanger truck things.
You take the best of both of them, and you make one great SUV.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

The Acadia should never have existed in the first place, the Traverse should have been available at the Lambda launch however. Why does BPG need 2 Lamda's? If they are going to keep GMC however why would they cancel the SUT? Perhaps it is a test of how well Chevrolet can do with a truck that is only offered in Chevy dealers?

If the new Terrain has 3 row seating but is smaller, lighter, and more fuel efficient than the Acadia it would probably sell better anyway. It won't have the same 3rd row room or cargo if it has that option but that works fine for many and most don't need the extra towing capacity either. The Enclave is still available at the BPG dealers if someone needs the extra size/capability. This will also help encourage those dealers that haven't already combined to do so. Getting all the seperate or improperly aligned dealers to be properly aligned is important.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Some GMC Product Programs Bite the Dust

I really like the Acadia. I really like the Outlook.. I really like the Enclave... And I really like the Traverse... Oh, and I'm really going to like the Cadillac that sits on this platform as well.. Does GM really need 5 of these trucks? So I can see why the Acadia and/or Outlook are getting cut.. If you want either one, get the Traverse..

Chevy Traverse - Really cheap
GMC Acadia - A little luxury, sort of
Saturn Outlook - Really cheap and I don't know
Buick Enclave - Lots of luxury
Cadillac Whatever - Lots of luxury and sportiness

You only need three..

Chevy Traverse - Cheap enough that anyone can buy it
Buick Enclave - A little expensive and quite luxurious
Cadillac Whatever - Expensive, luxurious and very sporty
