Epsilon II Malibu Delayed; Next Delta Too?

Epsilon II Malibu Delayed

According to the Wall Street Journal, GM has notified the UAW that it is delaying the next generation EP II Malibu (Not 2008 model, story has been updated). The delay is seen as pressure to force the UAW at Fairfax to accept the new Competitive Operating Agreement. The new Delta program has also apparently been delayed.

Re: 2008 Malibu Delayed!

Id rather it be delayed and be correct when it comes, rather than having the first 3000 cars have faulty air bag software or something.

Re: 2008 Malibu Delayed!

Aye Aye Aye! If they take this time to make the new Malibu even better then I'm all for it, but if this boils down to time wasted then I'm boycotting GM and buying a Ford.

Wouldn't it be nice if the delay was to restyle the front of the '08 Malibu? That grill is too high and looks hideous.

Re: 2008 Malibu Delayed!

If it's related to fixing a problem with the Malibu, I applaud GM. If this is genuinely being used as leverage on the UAW, however... it's really excessively risky.

I think this is what this is really about. GM starting to play hardball with the union.

Re: 2008 Malibu Delayed!

if this is what it takes for the union to realize that things need to change- then so be it.

Re: 2008 Malibu Delayed!

Longer it takes, the more sales it will lose, as customers won't want to wait indefinitely for a vehicle...

MEDIOCRITY: It takes a lot less time, and most people won't notice the difference until it's too late.
