Re: Latest on the Chrysler-GM Deal

The Germans want out and they are going to get out. They know that there is way too much capacity in the US market and a bunch of it has to be closed, especially in trucks.

I think they are protecting their 'premium' 'classy' image by offering it to GM to do the dirty work of laying off/closing down one of the icons of American industry.

What if Johnson & Johnson bought Bayer sucked all the money out of it and then closed all the plants in Germany. It wouldn't look good.

The Jeep is quite the success story - and we need these - we MUST learn from the success story of Jeep..
Jeep carries its parent Willy-Overland for years and then Kaiser-Frazier for some more years.
American Motors aquired K-F and guess who earned money yet again..
Jeep
Along comes Chrysler, buys Jeep from AMC and despite the dumb things Chrysler tries to do; Jeep still survives..
The Jeep may even save GM ! But I think not.....

"I want the Jeep to vanish" thinking is one reason why we are in so much trouble as a nation and as car-builders..

Hasn't anyone taken the trouble to examine Japan or Korea - as to the reason why they are successful and we are not.
One word : RESPECT !
they do
We do not !
