Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

it depends on what is : aveo clone or, if like current opel corsa, real Suzuki swift, or chevy wtcc... Great! bring it on.

But if just a re badged Chevy they can keep it.

Pontiac should target Mazda and stop with the dumb stuff

Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

the G6 does not look like any other GM car being made right now. its the only 2 door family sedan left for gm also. the G3 does look just like the aveo. i have seen them in canada and it must be canada but pontiac outsells chevy up there no proplem. you go up there you see the G5 and G3 everywheres. if it sells who gives a crap what it looks like. im sure theres going to be things in the G3 that you cant get in the aveo so make up for it looking alot like the aveo. also The G5 i read somewheres its geting done over right when the cobalt does to make it look more like a pontiac.

It looks exactly like the Aveo with a different grille. Already exists in Mexico (and Canada as the Wave). It's as poorly differentiated from the Aveo as the G5 is from the Cobalt, if not worse.

GM, give Saturn the Corsa, give Chevrolet an Aveo that gets good fuel economy, and can Pontiac.

The Solstice could get a makeover and become a Buick (hey, a Kappe Velite is better than no Velite at all!)...

The Vibe could become a... hmmm... make the Vibe AWD can call it a GMC... or only sell it overseas as a Chevrolet (basically a Rezzo replacement)...

The G8 could get the Chinese face and become the Park Avenue...

The G8 ST could easily get a new grille to make it a GMC or the Middle Eastern face to make it a Chevrolet...

Torrent is already headed to GMC (in spirit) as the Terrain...

The G6? Well it's at the end of its life... let it die a natural death and let Pontiac go out with an embarassing whimper...

The only way this would be acceptable is if they plan on being this POS here as an entry fuel efficient car because they plan on killing the G5 and replacing it with a RWD sport-compact.

Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

This would be more acceptable if the Aveo was a better vehicle. A Fit would make a much better Pontiac than an Aveo. It is often described as having the handling of a go-cart. It is probably the only appealing small car to me.

I feel another round of stop gaps coming on.

Yeah, but it is a better looking grill.

yes, the picture does but will it be the old/current aveo then the new aveo sold by chevy.which would be like vw with citi models.Or if the current Opel Corsa is on the same platform why not just re badge that for the NA market built in Brazil or wherever gm normally builds older for other countries.

Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

Having lived in Canada for the first 3/4 of my life, I'm ok with Pontiac having a sub-compact, even if its just a Chevy clone. However, I will never consider 25/34 to be "good" gas mileage for anything compact-sized or smaller. That's the most ridiculous statement I've read in a long time. How can 25 mpg city be considered good, when the Colorado can achieve 20 mpg city with its over-weight, bloated brick design (and I love my Colorado btw). I guess that makes the Colorado absolutely amazing then.

They already have the Vibe.
One turd in the lineup is enough.

Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

You know what would help meet CAFE standards? Selling more Aveos....you know what sells? Good product.

Spend the money on making the Aveo a better car instead of making Pontiac even more pathetic than it is now. Offering the quality and fuel efficiency that Honda and Toyota offer in this segment will increase sales more than re-badging a thirsty little econo-car that is about as sporty as a Huffy.

If you are going to badge engineer something, at least make it different...and badge engineer something that is worth the effort.

[quote=plane;1412706]Where's the GM $12k subcompact that achieves 30 mpg city, 44 highway?
Maybe something that is slightly competitive with Toyota and Honda's offerings?

This sounds like an exact descriptiom of an Echo which failed in the market during the era of $1.30/gal gas.
