Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

Not the 1st time we've been down this road: Chevette/T 1000.

Didn't Wagoner or Lutz say that GM wasn't going to do this crap any more ? Right before the 4 corporate Mini Vans went on sale?

Why not pick something else from the Daewoo line [if you're going to do that.. "Matiz"?] and put Pontiac badges on it and advertise it as built FOR [or imported for] Pontiac rather than such an obvious rebadge. It was never much of a secret where the Dodge and Plymouth "Colt" came from

I didn't think imports counted in the CAFE #s anyway. Or has this changed ?

This works. Now add whitewalls, wire wheels and a vinyl roof and you have a "retro" Cadillac to get that young upwardly mobile crowd that's cross shopping BMWs .

The 80s return

Re: AN: Dealer Sources Say GM Plans To Add G3 To Pontiac Line

The only thing we can hope for in PBG sales (I work for a dealership) is that they make the differences AT LEAST similar to the Cobalt/G5 standard features like having PW/PL/ABS/Side-Impacts/etc std over the Aveo to make it not a TOTAL humiliation of our name... I agree with the majority of everyone here in the way that Pontiac does need a compact, fuel efficient vehicle, however, I don't think a rebadged Aveo is the answer. We need something fun to drive AND look at that will keep the badge image going in the right direction. And whatever happened to "Pontiac: Driving Excitement" ???

You can still have fun driving a car that gets decent fuel economy without sloppy handling and feeling like your driving a cheap-ass rental.

There is no reason for a G3 here. But again, GM's short-minded desire for revenue is screwing their long-term future.
