Re: Confirmed: Astra to replace ION in late '07
So lets see, the Aura, Sky, new Vue, outstanding Outlook, and now the amazing Astra. Saturns starting to look very good!

Re: Confirmed: Astra to replace ION in late '07
Great news. Looks like a truly worthy small car with a domestic nameplate. We'll see how bad TTAC and Edmunds nitpicks it to death. "The feel of the door handles was not door handley enough when compared to the industry standard of door handles, Toyota (vomit)."

And the reason for the picking? 1-It took way too long to go from concept to production when compared to other model transitions. 2-It is physical, absolute proof that GM made a mistake when they killed it at the end of MY 2002. If GM waited until 2012 to bring it back out then a 10 year hiatus is understandable. 6-7 years shows they made a mistake when the Mustang is hotter than ever.

Re: Confirmed: Astra to replace ION in late '07
What I see coming on:
2-door Conv: XE, XR (This is most likely NOT going to be in the program, but it would be a nice move to compete with VW's Eos.) 3-door HB: XE, XR, Redline 4-door Sedan: XE, XR 5-door HB: XE, XR It's nice to see that the most useful body styles are being brought over here to the US. However, I think it's odd that Saturn chose the name 'Astra' instead of 'Ion' when they picked 'Vue' over 'Antara'... ![]()

Re: Confirmed: Astra to replace ION in late '07
This is glorious news! GM is addressing pretty much every criticism that I have had over the last two years. A little bit more work to do in the arena of Buick (get us a better LaCrosse) and Pontiac (G4 built on Kappa) but this has been one of my biggest arguments.
I have never been more happy to be a fan of GM. Quote:

Re: Confirmed: Astra to replace ION in late '07
somehow the front end shown doesn't fit the car. the nose is too high or something. needs to look a little more mean.
the opel version's better .. i think it's the way the saturn chop has a taller grille that goes further onto the hood. that one inch or so makes a big difference. Last edited by desmo9 : 12-07-2006 at 08:55 PM. |
