2. Dont reply to them in the name of "Good Union PR" with factual real world experience on the subject.....You might make them feel "Uncomfortable" for doing so and setting the record straight.

I've got a better idea, since this disscussion will be moved there soon, Just exactly what purpose does the "Union and Labor Relations" section of this forum serve....Other than to fan the flames and add fuel to the fire on these very topics......Get rid of it off GMI.....Problem solved! No more arguments. Othewise, Sorry but I dont "Lie down" for anyone who's personally attacking me or my lifestyle.....especially those who dont know their "Azz from a hole in the ground" on the subject and simply hopping on the bandwagon for the sake of doing so!

IT SEEMS TO BE NORMAL TO ATTACK THE UNION GUYS ON THIS SITE AND THE MEDIATORS DO JACK AND FROM WHAT IVE READ IT LOOKS ONE SIDED

I think she was more thinking about her co-workers who hadn't found another job. She said she found another job within the company. I think many UAW members are passionate about their job. Building cars which many consumers get an emotional attachment to, and is the engine of our economy, has to be a rewarding job.

Let's build some kick ass products. From designers, to the engineers, to management supporting these products, to the "worker-bee" on the line, let's "get r' done"!

Oh they do stuff, for example I was banned from the UAW Strike threads for going over the top, specifically the posts between me a GM Factory Rat. That's why I didn't post what I posted in there, here. I was told to cool it off.

Anyway, that was those threads this is that one, I try not to let comments in one thread spill over into another.

Many people don't like Unions for Economic Reasons, they view the Union as an archaic institution that handcuffs a corporation from doing what it needs to do to make a profit.

Also many people who dislike Unions look at what Unions where back in the 1920's and 30's (fighting for a decent wage, safe work place, standard hours, etc) and they compare them to today's Union and they wonder what happened.

Labor Relations is a BIG aspect of Business education, and the common teachings are about what is wrong with the current Union and how it burts Business and Profit.

Re: Breaking News: Strike is Over!

Hello —

I'm a reporter at the Lansing State Journal working on a story about the tentative agreement. I realize not all details are out yet, but I'm looking for GM hourly workers who are willing to talk about their impressions of the contract so far. Do you think it will be approved or are you hearing a lot of resistance to it on the job?

I understand that there's something of a heated discussion going on in this thread and that non-GM workers have strong opinions, too, but for purposes of this story, I really am looking only for GM workers who are UAW members. If you happen to be in Michigan, that's good, and if you work in Lansing, better yet.

I can be reached toll-free at 800-433-6946 and ask for me at X1348, or directly at 517-267-1348. By email, I can be reached at bwieland@lsj.com. Thanks!

Please continue to post, we really need someone with your expertise on here to help verify information, esp in the UAW sections. Take care!
I can't argue this point. And I do come here primarily for the reasons you mention. Thanks.

Why don't u try answering the question which was

"Once again, why does it have to be $27 per hour or $9 per hour? I haven't read one post where someone suggested pay should be cut by 2/3. The concensus seems to be that wages should be what the rest of the industry sees, but not $9."

I wouldn't bother checking back for his answer, he got banned two days ago.
