You guys do not have a clue at all. Gues what will happen: Opel will go bankrupt soon, and I really hope that no government will pay a single euro as a support for this so called restructuring plan that will likely be as stupid as any other effort the GM managemant did in the past few years.

But of course....americans do not worry because they will allways make it because they are american.

You were concerned about the russians getting access to GM IP because you appear to still live in the cold war.

I tell you what: I prefer dealing with russians instead of americans that are full of stupid arrogance and are not reliable partners at all.

The Volt is a total electric car with a "range extender"
Remove ICE, add more/better battery's and you have the EV-2

It's still possible even if they have to buy it back from their former selves now known as Liquidation Motors Inc.

Does anyone know a website that is tracking the liquidation of Liquidation Motors Inc. that is putting up specific updates of what is going on w/LMi & it's assets??

I think this is the best solution, if solution is the right word. Opel is too important to GM to let go.

I dont know if Republican is the correct term...there were plenty in the GOP who did believe in saving the US auto industry (most just werent outspoken)...this guy is more a complete lunatic and obviously hasnt recognized all the good GM has provided Opel over the last 70 years.

This looks like a great move as long as the economy either in the US or abroad does not go into a "double dip" recession....but then there will be a lot larger problems then just GM or Opel or the international auto industry.

Much better than being called a liberal or socialist in the modern world.

Coming from the country that brought us the most evil dictator/ right-wing socialist (only he could make it up), I do not think you are coming from higher ground. Save your nationalistic intent and do not even try cover up Germany's sick past by calling out others.

P.S. Your current, newly re-elected GERMAN prime minister classified as a "republican". She is a conservative. Rmthink before speak.

You wanna talk arrogance? I used to deal with Opel when sourcing vehicles into NZ a few years ago. The Americans do not have arrogance all to themselves. Apparently there are no good ideas outside of Opel. I for one hope the new GM, which appears to be going through a huge culture change, can make significant changes in this thinking.

Does anyone remember that Peter Hanenberger was denied the Presidency role at Opel because he agreed with GM NA that Opel needed to be engineering it's vehicles for GM global consumption? The Opel board and Unions voted against him because they feared change.
Had he succeeded he would have pushed for design and engineering to have greater input into future models with a possible result that Opel would have had a worldwide presence much like VW. Perhaps Buick would have had Opel / NA engineered vehicle years ago?

The court papers are posted here: http://www.motorsliquidationdocket.com/

BTW, New GM owns the "Pontiac" trademark, it hasn't been liquidated. They could, in theory, bring it back.

WHY???????????So GM can bleed more red ink and beg Obama for more money. Pontiac has not pulled a profit in years. It has been a drag on the books. It was bad decisions, like not to kill brands when they became unprofitable, that killed GM. Heck, I have a SSR, and I love it, But it should have never been. The SSR cost GM a fortune, with negative return. Not a way to run a BUSINESS.
