Re: 2010 Camaro to be unveiled via the web on July 21 @ 4pm!

An internet unveiling... must be something special.

I wonder what the new Camaro looks like??

Oh man, I can't wait.

We know it seems to many of you this day would never arrive, but on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 4:00 PM, EDT, Ed Peper, Chevrolet’s General Manager, and Ed Welburn, GM’s Director of Design, will unveil the details of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. This unveil will be the first step in answering the many questions (or should we say confirming the many rumors) surrounding the new Camaro.

Due to many factors, we are not able to extend an invitation to the entire Camaro community to join us in person for the dual, simultaneous unveilings that will take place in Warren, MI, and Los Angeles, CA.

We understand many of you may be disappointed not being able to see the car “in the flesh” that day (and therefore give you a reason to meet us at Indy in September); therefore, we are arranging a live webcast of the Warren unveiling on the GM Next website.

On Monday, July 21, just before 4:00 PM, EDT, go to http://camaro.gmnext.com and click on the "Camaro webcast" link at the top of the page (the Camaro link goes live July 17) to tune in the unveiling. If you cannot watch the webcast live, no worries, an archive of the broadcast will be available on GMNext.com and Chevy.com/Camaro.

Speaking of Chevy.com/Camaro, the next evolution of the site will also debut late Monday afternoon. The next evolution will include images of the production model, exclusive production animation, and a downloadable PDF file containing specifications on the 2010 Camaro. After the webcast, come on over and see the changes for yourself.

If all your questions are not answered during the reveal, a web-chat on the 2010 Camaro will take place the next day (Tuesday, July 22) at GMNext.com. The chat will start at 9:30 AM, EDT, and will feature experts from Chevrolet Marketing, Design and Engineering.

Since Camaro’s production announcement in August 2006, many people throughout GM have been passionately developing a car worthy of its heritage that features beautiful styling, segment-leading performance, excellent fuel economy and advanced technology. Quite honestly, we can't wait to show you all the work on Monday.

Sincerely,

Team Camaro
(Cheryl Pilcher; John Fitzpatrick & Scott Settlemire)
It has come, the official unveiling of a car that many of us have been waiting for since 2002. The 5th Generation Camaro, and all its details will be shown off to the public on a live broadcast. Everything that has been talked about, rumored, complained and praised will all come to a final head on Monday. The return of the Camaro is upon us. Mustangs, Challengers, 350z, and rice burners beware....

That's great and all, but whew talk about bad timing.

Oh by the way here is our new muscle car the Camaro. It can be had with some monster V8s."

I guess this is just to make absolutely sure everyone's completely bored with the Camaro by the time you can actually buy one.

I'm getting excited again... while I agree with those that we've heard way too much of the Camaro over the past few years, when it finally comes out no one will care, because it's going to be a great car! Yeah-hoo!

Maybe Europe will get it first?

It's the right car for the right time, here's you're 2004 Camaro!

What's that? It's 2008? We've missed out on a wave of sales for V8 rwd cars and now there's another gas crisis so people don't want these anymore? Hold on we're going to need to have a meeting about this.

If this restructuring was done when gm had money, and brought out/cancelled any contract they had with the st. therese plant and it moved to the oshawa plant in late 2004-early 2005 then gm would of hit a sweet spot in the market.
Gm was working on zeta and they needed to redesign the gmt 800's, they should of still redesgined the gmt800 with pulling r&d money from the gmt 900 and into speeding the zetas up, so we would of had the sts/dts replacement, a buick rwd, the camaro, the g8, possibly transferring the catara based gto onto a zeta based platform, a new monaro, the commodore line and maybe a chevrolet impala ss (retail)/caprice(fleet) that would of helped replace crown vickys and fwd impalas to police/taxis etc.
We could have been happier much sooner if gm wasnt deadset for bragging rights for the best truck in the world as the time of its release, it was practically overkill for its competition.

With the life cycle of new product development, this is unavoidable (the gas prices 3 years ago would easily support a new muscle car). Previous reviews say the V6 version is very impressive though. What would you think if they morphed it into a small performance car (a la Saturn SKY) and made it all electric to run against the Tesla roadster?
