Re: Jalopnik lets the cat out of the bag reveals 2010 camaro info before monday revea

Praise the lord, no corporate steering wheel!!!! And one with actual style no less!

This car is so much more attractive inside and out than the Challenger because it manages to be retro in a much more contemporary way.

And I've wondered why GM hasn't resurrected the RS badge for its sporty models over the generic "Sport" designation found on the current Equinox and Cobalt.

Not only that, I believe it would be a first for any automaker. Mercedes uses cylinder deactivation in their top engines, but only offers them with automatics. Honda uses VCM on their V6, but if you get a manual with it on the Accord Coupe, then you lose VCM. Chrysler uses it on their 5.7L Hemi, but that engine is only paired to a 5 speed auto just like the old Mercedes drivelines. And of course there is GM, which only offers cylinder deactivation on the G8 GT which is permanently married to an auto, you have to get the GXP which has no AFM to get the stick. I'm sure the same is true of the HV V6s GM offers.

I'd like to see them figure this one out--and get the 4-cylinder mode up to 80-90mph. If a tiny 1-2 liter NA 4 banger can go over 100 mph (and they almost all do), then a 6.0-6.2L engine running on 3.0-3.1L worth of 4 cylinder should be able to run a steady state 80mph cruise.

Absolutely beautiful. I love the headlamps! Side profile and a$$ are very nice looking too. Too bad we are headed (or already in for some parts of the US) into a recession or I would order one now!!!

My current ride - 2004 Mazda6s - V6 with a five speed manual. GM forced me to the competition because they didn't offer a midsize sedan with a V6 and manual transmission.

Looks great, both exterior and interior. I may have to trade in my G8 for one next year.

It is very impressive that the DI is the base engine i would have expected the port injected LY7 to be on the base cars and the LLT on a midlevel model. I'm happy that they went with the 3.6 rather than the 3900, even though they could rig the 3900 up with AFM it never had competitive power or economy against the competitors
I know that I LOVED my 3.8L Series II V6 in my '01 Firebird when I used to have it. That was a great engine that GM kind of stalled on after that design. My father, a Buick man, raves about the gas mileage he gets in his LeSabre with that engine to this day. Hell, I used to get 30 MPG on the NYS Thruway in the Firebird using Cruise Control. Plus it was a peppy little engine that was fun to gun.

It looks like that the RS will be the V6 version. It only has two tail pipes and I belive that the V8 will have four tail pipes!

I would assume that since Zeta is just a less expensive Sigma that this will handle similarly to the CTS, most probably like the CTS Sport. That would be quite welcome.

And for those that worry it's not a sports car because it weighs more than 3000 lbs, I don't see a problem. To me it's in a different class. To me sports cars have 2 doors and seat 2, no matter what Porsche may think with their 911.

Re: Jalopnik lets the cat out of the bag reveals 2010 camaro info before monday revea

Before everyone starts quoting the 3747 lbs weight, reread the article. The orginial says:

"... but the Camaro is a porker, weighing in at more than 1,700kgs."

Jalopnik simply did the metric conversion for 1700 kgs and came up with 3747 lbs. So, the original article basically says the car weighs in at more than 3747 lbs. And, it doesn't specify whether its the v6 or V8. We'll know more Monday.

Given the platform, the weight is no surprise, but I truly wish that GM had managed to come up with something a lot closer to 3200 lbs than 4000, particularly from a performance perpective.

The interior looks good. Love those gauges.

The exterior... I am indifferent.

Never really cared for the concept's exterior to begin with.

Edit: Just saw the rear pic. GM sort of messed up the exhaust and the rear diffuser. Usually, the rear diffuser doesn't wrap around the exhaust pipes for aesthetic reasons. The whole diffuser design looks really strange and chunky, too.

OMG, LOLZ. Safe yourself $800 and buy yourself one of these:

I never understood why people are so enamored with Nav systems. I like having a nice big radio screen, but is it going to keep me from buying this amazing car? Hellz no. PLUS the V8 is DoD, which might be a great option for this car.
