Re: 2010 Camaro Shown Early: Specs and Pics Inside!

Garmin/TomTom nav systems can now be bought for as little as $90. I'm not sure if a signifigant amount of potential Camaro buyers will not get the car because a $2000 factory nav system isn't an option.

Anyone know what percentage of Mustangs are sold with nav?

That said...there'll never be one in my driveway. It's just out of reach--as it always has been and probably always will be. I can't afford a $500/month car payment, then $250/month insurance (which is probably what it'll be, even though I have a clean record), and THEN about $200/month in gas (costs me about $100/month now in a Cavalier, and my mileage is only going to be about half as good in this, considering where I drive). It's just too much money.

I've never been able to afford one of these. Even in '02 when I was making close to 50K a year I couldn't afford it because I had to pay a small fortune for rent. Now I'm making 9.25 an hour stuffing mail and can't find a better job. I can't even afford a USED Camaro, as I can't afford to fix all the crap that's going to be wrong with it.
Sorry to hear about the loss of such a well paying job. I make about $50,000 now, I don't know what I'd do if I was knocked down to $9.25. Definitely lose my house...

Why would your insurance be so high though? Are you under 25?

My insurance was $1000 a year for my 2002 Camaro (V6) when I had it (late 20's-30yrs old). Even if I'd gotten a V8 it wouldn't have been $250 a month.

Thankfully gas isn't that big a problem for me since I only live 3.5 miles from work and fill my Aveo's gas tank every 2 weeks.

The first thing I'd do is rip out that ugly radio and those silly gauges down where they can't be seen (until it is too late). It might be nice to have some of those gauge functions located above that center vent.

I agree w/you here. These gauges are in the wrong spot. You literally have to take your eyes off of the road to look at these gauges. Not just shift your eyes, but you have to turn your whole head to look down at these things. Very bad choice of placement for gauges.

At least one thing I am happy to see is that stupid slit in the front on the front clip. I am absolutely happy to see that is GONE for production.

Finally, I am patiently waiting for the return of the Firebird like many else here. Naysayers of the resurrection of the Firebird, SHUP right now!

So you want the reverse lights (re)moved & to be out at the dealers??

This would make for a car that does not have any reverse lights til you go to the dealer to get them.

I'd say this may cause some new Camaro owners to get at least a fix it ticket for not having reverse(backing) lights!

Re: 2010 Camaro Shown Early: Specs and Pics Inside!

I was just checking pricing on tires for the car...
275/45-20 on the rears...Tirerack.com's price is 405 dollars a piece! The Pilot 2's are 351, GSD3's are 229.

I was watching the Mecom auction last night.

They had a '69 SS/RS on the block and just happened to focus on the shifter area and guess what... there were 4 gauges right where they are on the new Camaro. Looked just like 'em, too.

So, if you don't like it I suggest you go buy an ordinary blahmobile with no style (or worse, the same style as everyone else), quirks or heritage.

I hear the G8 can fit 295s on the back stock. Since the Camaro is running G8 hardware it's probably the same. That's some serious tire for a serious car.

Just by my observation, I'd say 25%... almost all upper-end GT or V6 Premium models.

GM's crappy 2-Valve V-8's kick the ass of every other V8 in a similar price bracket.

Toyota? The LS3 handles their stupid DOHC V8 which "just so happens" to have the same displacement as GM's olds small block and Dodge's current HEMI engine.

Honda? Oh wait they dont have a V8

Nissan? All they have is 315 hp in the Titan. Good Torque, but the LS3 dominates it.

Hyundai? THey did a good job with the Genesis. However GM still has them dominated with the LS3. Plus, their V8 is expensive.

Ford? We are still getting 315 hp GT Mustangs. Needs a supercharged to break 400.

Exactly where is the competition?
