Will the Canadian G8s go via the US or would they be direct imported from Australia. I would hope the latter as that would appear at first glance to reduce costs. Anyone know for sure?

Re: 2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

I don't think the G8 should start at $28k. That is a huge difference over the car it pretty much replaces. $26k would of been a much better number. Pontiac really needs to get on the ball or they should just throw in the towel. The G8 is overpriced, the G6 needs to be completely redone, the G5 is a joke, the Vibe is a Toyota in disquise (do I really need to explain the problem with that?), the Solstice is getting long in the tooth, and now they are expected to get a rebadged Aveo. How promising for the performance brand...

Promisingly, the performance-oriented yet apparently 'overpriced' G8 3.6 litre is priced lower than Malibu LTZ 3.6 litre

Which would you rather have?

I think this is more of a problem with people perceiving that things are overpriced than they actually are.

A G8 is a FULL SIZE RWD car, what full size car with a decent V6 costs less than $27k. The Charger with the 3.5L stripped might be the only one, but the G8 doesn't have a stripper model so that explains why it costs more.

Cars just cost more than they did 5 years ago.

Hit the nail on the head.

GM priced the G8 GT to get attention, now that they've got it the price will be adjusted accordingly.

Either way, I'm sure the profit margins on this car are razor slim to none.

When do the 2009s start showing up - there seem to be hardly any 2008s around (although I know a dealership in Golden Valley MN with two hail damaged models...)

whatever state tax you pay. So the comparisons are distorted. And the G8 GT is trimmed between the SS and SS-V. ... tyres etc. But it was a lot lower initial price. Plus the G8 only comes in two flavours and .... Plus no doubt GM who supplies the G8 V8s and some other bits cuts themselves a... the motors. The Vauxhall VXR8 is not equivalent the G8, but actually the HSV Clubsport R8which has the ...
how they will explain it if they put the price up in Canada, which is already much higher than the US price. As of now we are told to expect $36,995 for the GT..probably go up to $40,000 now. Way ...closer...and GM still has one of the highest price gaps. Big mistake boys, they will languish... decide everything for them. Canadians must stand up to other Canadians who are screwing them ...

Well it's not really that bad, seeing as we Australians already pay more than that and have the cars built in our back yard.
