2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up
http://www.gminsidenews.com
June 16, 2008

GMInsidenews has learned that the price of the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT will be rising slightly. GM will be raising the base GT sticker price $1,365.00 to $31,365.00. Pontiac has been touting the the 2008 G8 GT as the "fastest car under $30 grand" in their commercials. I guess those commercials will not be making their way on the airwaves passed the 2008 model-year run. All 2009 G8's will come standard with XM Radio and eventually Bluetooth connectivity; both options deeply missed on the 2008 model. The G8 V6 base price will remain at $27,995.00. No word on the GXP model's price yet.

not too surprising... the cost of everything is going to go up because of gas prices

Cars go up every year, as long as it is less than 2% then they technically have gone down.

Gminsidenews is a day late and a dollar short. This was reported on a G8 board over a week ago. Old news for some of us.

No surprise with the incredible shrinking value of the American Dollar over the past year.

Re: 2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

I'm thinking the original price of "under 30 grand" was just a teaser price anyway. Only designed to pique everyone's interest in the new model. I figured it would need to go up soon.

Attention Pontiac: I'm still waiting for the with 6 speed manual and the 20 inch wheels from the HSV Clubsport. ...and what about a Coupe?

Re: 2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

Well if they blame this on the shrinking dollar, I wonder how they will explain it if they put the price up in Canada, which is already much higher than the US price. As of now we are told to expect $36,995 for the GT..probably go up to $40,000 now. Way too much for a Pontiac. They will sell at the start, but then die off. Shame, it's a nice car, but GM isn't in a position to be over pricing anything, nothing GM makes is good enough to cost more than the competition. Not to mention Canadians are getting annoyed because the other companies changed prices to be closer...and GM still has one of the highest price gaps.

Big mistake boys, they will languish on lots here.

Re: 2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

what if the opt the V6 with a turbo?

G8-V6, fastet V6 under 30 grand, and it beats most V8s too.
Your car is your throne. Pontiac is car. Are you royalty?

Hows that for a slogan.

Re: 2009 G8 GT Price Goes Up

I don't know why everyone is so worried, its not like GM isn't going to slap a crap-ton of rebates on the hood anyways, when its all said and done, it will probably cost less...And who would seriously buy a Solstice for 19,995, when you could get it loaded for just a few grand more? I'm a fan of the power windows(even if my wrist would be broken) Which leads me to another point..after GM has made so many great cars, how come they mess up simple things like window switch placement in 2006?

He's right. Canadian management always prices things higher. They need to be shot. Then again they know they can get away with it just like the high taxes in this country. Canadians might complain here and there about them, but they never do anything about it. They just let big brother decide everything for them. Canadians must stand up to other Canadians who are screwing them over...

However it might also have something to do with all the darn taxes in this country and inefficiencies...Either way, it is annoying.

That's already happening. Gasoline at $4.00+/gallon has motivated Pontiac dealers to give really good deals on G8s.
