Re: 2007 Chevy Silverado Named MotorTrend Truck of the Year!!

I hope Toyota can't run for the 08 TOTY. It'd be blatant bias, because it's MY 07. If they do, I'd be upset. Glad the Silverado won though.

Hopefully the Ford will beat Toyota for 2008. This will keep the award in the hands of the domestic automakers and hopefully keep it here.

I am excited about the Chevy truck. Say one this morning at my son's school and as my son says..."sweet"

I think this award is particularly important with the Tundra coming out. Most of the time, I don't consider these awards to be too meaningful as far as sales go.

Maybe the HDs will beat out the Tundra. That would be funny.

No it wouldn't be, it'd be a late 2007 entry. Automakers have late MY changeovers all the time.

Re: 2007 Chevy Silverado Named MotorTrend Truck of the Year!!

I am thinking that the toyoda isn't gonna amount to much. It is good that everyone is taking a critical look at it, but I can't see it being much more than the titan.

For the past 20 years I knew there'd be only one pickup I'd ever drive, not much is going to change that.

My money says yes.
If it is allowed........someone, somewhere....will be burning Angus McKenzie in effigy....

Pretty good... It wasn't until post number 6 that someone mentioned that these results were fixed so Toyota could win.

I can only shake my head at some of these posts. To many of you, everything about the auto industry revolves around Toyota. If GM loses an award to Toyota, you folks bitch. If GM wins an award, you still look for excuse to bitch about Toyota. It rains outside... you bitch because it's Toyota's fault.

Is this how many of you act like in everyday life? Do you question why you scored a 90% on an exam (hmmm, teacher must be setting me up for failure)? Do you question a promotion (why would they promote me to senior management?? Are they setting me up for failure so they can fire me?).

The amount of bitching about Toyota in what appears to be EVERY single thread here is just plain getting sick. It was like this last year when every post had to revolve around the Camaro coming back (as sick as that was, at least it was still a GM).

Just for kicks, I'd like to see Toyota win Truck of the Year next year. That way, you can all pat yourselves on the back while you all say "I told you so!!".

Well, going by the only guidline I see for being eligible for the award, which is that the model had to be on sale before Jan 1 '07 the 2007 Tundra obviously wouldn't be in contention this year but it's pretty much ruled out next year too. MT always does the incoming model year for TOTY as far as I know and the 2008 Tundra will not be a "new or substantially redesigned truck." Toyota's little MPG game pretty much put them out of contention for the award next year, not that they deserve it.

I'm stunned.

I actually can't believe it.

After they gave COTY to the Fugly Camry, this is awesome.

the 07 tundra shouldn't be eligible to win the 08 truck of the year, that would just be too set up

Re: 2007 Chevy Silverado Named MotorTrend Truck of the Year!!

I'm really glad the Silverado won. Sure most of the competition was from within GM, but the Silverado is the biggest seller of the bunch, and the calipers mean the most (in terms of sales) with the Bowtie division.
